hello would like to contact gary wilson belfast for help

thanks gary for your help

i was reading up on boost jets can anyone tell me do you use the same pipe for a manual boost controler or is there anyone i could phone about this

yes, same pipe. The boost jets sit inline in the feed that goes to the boost solenoid.

Personally I would not fit a Manual boost controller, and I would stick to Boost jets or a Electronic Boost controller.

9psi is stock Boost. I would not advise increasing the boost without a Chipped ECU. Aftermarket chipping services available for around 100pound from John Dixon, Andyp, DTA. An Afermarket chip is mapped to cater for higher boost levels.

Reccomended Max limit with Induction kit, Catback exhaust and Chipped ECU is 14.5psi (1 bar boost). Any higher and the stock injectors are past their max fuel duty range.

Here are some guides that should make it all clearer :

hello why would you not use manual boost controler

if you want more control and performance, go for an electronic controller. if you can't budget for an electronic one, boost jets cost pennies.

but whether you go EBC, jets or manual controller, you still need chipped ECU and decent airflow into and out of engine

my jap in port is only puting out 6 to 7 psi i just want to bring it up to about 12 thats why i bought boost gauge and manual controler will she cope stock

I think you need to check your car is not in saftyboost and only boosting 5psi and the gauge is inaccurate. You do this with an ECU check either manualy or with a software check.

how do you check ecu manually to see if its in safe boost?

Manual boost controllers can be prone to Boost spikes.

You either have a boost leak or your in safety mode. Either way your car will be quite a bit down on power currently and will need to be fixed before turning the boost up.

Here is how to do an ECU error code check :

Method 1 - http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html

Method 2 - http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/ECUdiagnostics.html

hello wat is the standerd boost my boost gauge goes from -7 and+7 the car seems to be runing well otherwise the car has k&n and stright through from cat if the codeds are alright can i turn up the boost to 12 psi without chip :nana2:

Hi matey,

-7 and +7 would be nmhg if i remember correctly and if she is hitting the +7 then all fine. You will need a chip to reflect the higher boost pressure and jets or electronic boost controller to up the boost safely.

Its just a case of swapping the cats for decat pipes. or you can gut the inside of the cats, but thats not as efficient for performance.

The pipes you mention do not need to be blocked off. They are off part of the AIV system and can be left to vent to atmosphere, or you can remove the AIV system entirely.

hello what is the avi system and the stage 3 chip on ebay is it for real or just crap and where would i get jets and would it benefit the car to remove the avi system :headvswal

The AIV system is for Idle emissions and keeping the cats at correct operating temperature. They are no needed, and redundant with cats removed. No real benefit to removing, other than getting rid of unneeded parts, and they can fill up with condensation over time producing a gurgling noise.

I would not reccomend buying a Chip from Ebay. Speak to one of the following people/companies instead - John Dixon, AndyP, DTA Motorsport. A remapped chip from one of these reputable sellers is around 70-100 pounds.

Boost jets are bascially Mig Welding tips. I would reccomend 1.0mm and you can get them from most Hardware stores or Welding specialists.
