I know there have been many threads covering radiators but iv done a search back to 2006 and not found any real informative feedback on rad comparisons... and i dont just mean the pricey ones.

Looking on ebay there are many many rads available at stupidly low prices, luke sells one for a very competitive price and i believe danny sells a budget aftermarket one too?

As far as measurements are concerned, these budget ones seem to be as big if not bigger when looking at core sizes so what im asking is... are the big name expensive ones 'really' any better compared to an unbranded council version  ??

any feedback or advice welcomed...

Hi Joel,

Please see the attached pic. It also includes the two types of radiator brackets that I do. Both are made from miror polished stainless steel. One is plain, the other has the "Z" logo cut out at the centre. The radiator uses a 55mm KOYO core with aluminium end tanks tig welded onto the core.

Prices as requested:

RAD001: DTA Performance Radiator (Twin Turbo Manual only): £160.00

RAD003: DTA Performance Radiator Bracket (plain): £50.00

RAD004: DTA Performance Radiator Bracket (logo): £55.00

DEL001: Next Day Delivery (Courier): £10.00

If the bracket is purchased at the same time as the radiator I'll do it all for the princely sum of £200.00 plus delivery.

Please note that this radiator currently only fits TWIN TURBO cars only. This is due to the mounting points being different between TT's and NA's. I'm working on a cost effective solution for this.

Also, this radiator can be use on AUTOMATIC cars ONLY if they have a separate A/T box cooler already installed.

Hi dan

£50 for brackets for the radiator?????wtf???? thats a bit like saying the radiator is good value until you come to fit it and then you will be charged a huge sum for 2pieces of metal to hold it in place which actually makes it not such a good deal after all ,considering in my opinion they should be supplied as part of the radiator package in the first place.

  • Author

i agree, that bracket cost is a bit steep, i could make that old girl at work. still, the rad looks good, im just trying to research the other cheaper alternatives. also danny, can you give me a delivered price on the ferodos i mentioned? r33 gtr brembo front (ds2500)

also, do you sell anti roll bars?

So don't you think 200 quid all in including the bracket is a good price then?

Koyo rad on it's own 250 quidish, Howe about the same

Zcentre a wee bit more than Dan's

The rad is sold as is without the bracket simply because some are happy to make hodge bodge with the existing brackets, certainly do-able

The bracket, laser cut and machine pressed and polished is an extra if someone wants it, but they don't have to have it.

Check out the link below to see how steep you think Dan's price is on the bracket!

http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=438&Car_Type=300&UID=2009082611572387.254.79.78

If Dan had simply posted up 200 quid all in, would you have still complained cos you wouldn't have known how much the bracket was! knowing that other brands are more expensive and even without a bracket..

im not saying its not worth £200 all in , i jus think that £50 for brackets is a bit steep. And it was said that the radiator is half price of a koya radiator , but when u consider it isnt when its costing only £50 less is it????

I would say for 2 brackets regardless of how they are cut still is expensive at that price.

You wouldnt go to a car garage and buy a car for £10,000 to be told if you want wheels on it so you can use it ur gonna have to spend 1/3rd of that again which is basically the same percentage of the brackets. Just my opinion thats all. If something is gonna be sold then sell it as a whole and not in parts when there are required to make it fit correctly.

£50 for brackets is a bit steep. And it was said that the radiator is half price of a koya radiator , but when u consider it isnt when its costing only £50 less is it????

Soz but You got it wrong again. The koyo is £250 ON ITS OWN so no bracket.

No company sells the bracket with the radiator unless asked for, it is and has always been a seperate item.

For the work involved in making the bracket and make a few poxy quid profit for the time involved, trust me, £50 is cheap, as my previous link has shown And You don't have to have the bracket with the radiator, hence another reason why it is sold seperate.

Just for the record:

1x KOYO Racing Radiator = $399.00 (average non-discounted price at US retailers)

1x Shipping to UK via USPS = $90.00 (is cheapest method. Express will run you on average $125.00)

1x Import Duty/VAT/Agent Handling Fees (all at 22% of shipped total) = $107.00 (this must be considered as practically no parcel this size/weight will pass through customs without charge)

TOTAL = $596.00

Today's exchange rate: $1.00 = £0.618

Therefore, the delivered price of a KOYO radiator (NO BRACKETS) to anywhere in the UK = £368.00 (and this does not include any profit markup)

I suspect given the above calculation that our DTA Performance Radiators and full length stainless steel brackets seem rather reasonably priced.

Now, if anyone else would like to complain about the price of our KOYO/HOWE full length radiator brackets I suggest you prepare your arguments very carefully.

@ Smithy: thanks for the backup bud :)

Regards,

Dan

Well you know what, if yer hadn't of ****ed up again! i would have done.

1st, what you listed as found in under 20 secs is NOT the same Koyo rad we are all talking about here, in fact it's **** all like it.

It is a standard replacement rad with plastic tanks, a bit more time in your reasearch and you'll see.

2nd, i know you moaned about the price of the bracket, so i showed you how much they are in the US where they are sold by the bucket load and more expensive.

3rd you moaned that the bracket should be part of the rad, so i showed you NO ONE sells it with the rad unless you pay more

4th, I said 250 quidish JUST for the rad and nowt else.

And now you've even listed the wrong rad.

Maybe get all the facts before yer moan about summit or feel free to knock the brackets up and flog em perhaps!

So NOW, i guess we'll leave at that shall we!

Never mind, the link i posted earlier has them for 60 quid plus shipping from the US.Danny sells them for 50 quid or even less at 40 quid if you buy the rad, WOW!

All am trying to point out fella is, look back at your post after danny posted his prices, in reflection i think you'll find you jumped the gun and i found your tone to that offensive IMO Simply cos, i knew the facts and now you do too, !

So now you wanna leave it lol

finaly, but jus to say after all that it wa u that jumped too far cos to begin with i NEVER disputed the radiator or its price, i only gave my opinion bout the bracket. simple fact was if ya dont like the fact that i feel it should come with the rad as a package then thats tough. i was never offensive and it was u that was rude with your wording and attitude.

now leave it as that , cos this isnt the place to argue. but is the place to voice opinions.

Sorry i can never leave things alone when someone just isn't accepting their actions, plus am a firm believer in looking at the start of why any problem started, not jumping to the middle section to find fault.

Again, i ask you to re read your post and well before the last page of posts.

Cocky and with a wtf! without such attitude i wouldn't have even posted, fact.

But the biggest point is, i've proven to you danny's deal is in fact " a good deal" and knocks spots of the competition. Which kinda contradicts what you posted above eh.

Maybe Dan should be apoligised to now you know the full facts of how wrong your comments were.

At least when the time comes and you are in the market for a rad, now you know wehre to go to pay more and not even get a bracket with it, cos it's an OPTIONAL EXTRA, always has been and always will be cos not every one likes the bling :D

think u need a reality check smithy.

1. I have got a NEW larger rad for which i paid less for.

2. I didnt dispute the price or worth of the rad

3. People are entitled to a opinion of there own opinion

:headvswal:headvswal

Think it's time to close the thread mods before i end up at the hospital for the cut to me friggin forehead!

Point is definately across me thinks ;)
