Can any one tell me what is the largest possible screen that anyone has installed in the radio surround moulding? looks like 7" might be the max..

I have a 7"myself installed which appear big enough.

But there is and 8.5" available on ebay., but it will stick further out than normal ones and you can not fold it away.

Sorry guys, my fault, i meant a screen that could be "fitted" into the moulding, which shows the output from a PC. I dont mean a single DIN or Double DIN device.

Cheers

ok sorry there mate!

I have a 7" one as well, but that's enough about me :x:

A 7" screen with surround is probably about the max. Have you tried measuring the radio console? ;)

Yeah, I've got a really nice 32" LG in my lounge, goes nicely with my new LG surround system.

7.5" - depends where the screens buttons are and if you choose to hide them or leave them revealed.

my last screen gave up the ghost but i have a new 1 now... its still 8" but the buttons are on the side of this 1 (as apposed to the old 1 where the were below) making it a wider assembly, so i had to cut a bit more out to mount it. i havent completed the centre console mould for this screen yet but it will sit nicely up to the edge of the touchscreen...

Joel - sorry to hijack this thread but can I ask how your pc set up is controlled and what you can use it for? Can you use any screen? Does it have mobile Internet access? Would love to know as I think it would be really useful to have a similar set up in my zed but wouldn't want to lose my Dvd player.

7.5" Lillyput touch screen is my screen of choice - no buttons - just remote control for the setup etc. Mobile internet via a voda-dongle or similar - interface - I use Centrafuse v2.1 all on a laptop/docking station in the rear. Google it if you don't know.

Joel

Thought you sold your PC setup, or is this a replacement?

Ric

i couldnt do it lol!

i can control the pc from the touchscreen, or the idrive type setup shown in the pic behind the gearknob... i have a wireless mini mouse in the glovebox in case i need it and i have a nano keyboard mounted into my sunvisor.

as for what to use it for... your best bet would be to check the demos of centrafuse as mentioned by andy. that will show you the way you interface with the carpc and features you can use.

i have a voda pay as you go mobile broadband dongle for inet access, though i very rarely have the need to use it! you wont need to lose your dvd player... i have a slimline slot loading dvd rw up front for listening/watching media on disc.

tbh there are endless possibilities you can do with a carpc setup... but be aware that you'll find yourself spending hours and hours fookin about with software!
