Hi all

ย

If you get a honking sound does that mean the recirc valves are on the way out? if they are worn could this effect the idle or create a misfire? would these be picked up on a boost test? how easy or these to replace and where are they located? wheres the best place to buy these from?

recircs are easy to replace mate, remove your nose panel 10mm bolts holding it on and you will see them below the air filter. Just remove all associated parts carefully to get to them and just pull them out and replace.

if they are leaking air then yest that would casue a missfire.

easiest thing to do is to just remove them completely, and bung/block off the intake & IC pipe

I had this on my 300 when i first got her. On full boost was fine, idle fine, no misfire or issues, only holding the boost at 0, i could hear the "honking". Changed the recircs to dumps, and all fine.

HTH matey,

There's just one big problem with that....

ย

yea know it goes back to the turbo,

ย

but loads and loads of turbos dont run a re-circ and are fine,

ย

think its just over engineered bits that are pritty pointless.

ย

as much use as the EGR

I think, if you blank of the recircs, the pressure from the tubs, when changing gear, will as you say, go back to the tubs and the seals will only take so much, then blow. As i have said in many posts, i maybe wrong, but i maybe right, i dunno........

Al.

Pressure will attempt to stall the turbo's and you will have stall noise, some call it pigeon mod I think it sounds more like a turkey :wack:

i ran my 200 with the recirc removed. never had a problem with it. im not sure if i will do it on the 300 unless they are leaking ( which im sure they are a bit)

i would avoid dump valves, they "dump" metered air which the ecu has allocated fuel for. ie you run rich on lift off and create a large bang usually. even worse if the valve leaks it will mess up fueling under acceleration and cause all sorts of running issues. plus they make you sound like a you have dump valves.

ย

just my opinion obviously
