OK.. anyone who has seen my other threads will know this is getting annoying now!! - Only owned the car a week and needed an new gearbox and overheated last night.

Went out to the car this morning and it won't start at all - getting lights on the dash and I can here the Hicas adjusting but when you turn the key - NOTHING - doesn't even turnover!!

I have tried resetting the imobilser still no joy.

Anybody have any ideas!! (please don't say new starter motor or I am likely to shoot myself)

Regards - Cyrus

Mine did a similar thing the first day I owned it, my problem was the PTU, changed to S2 PTU and did not have a problem after that.

So it's not even turning over but you can hear everything else working? Low battery charge. Jump it from another car. They take a lot of power to kick the solenoids into action on the starter.

If it was the PTU wouldn't it at least turn over? - It only had a new battery a week ago but then was immediately left standing for 5 days while the gearbox was being changed - would it discharge in that much time?

What happens when you turn the ignition key to activate the starter...

Starter fires but car wont start ?

nothing at all - no starter noise ?

A Clicking noise ?

I know this might sound a silly, but its a common mistake - if its an Auto, check you have not left it in gear. It will not allow you to start it unless in Park or Neutral.

also check the earth from the battery to the engine and also what legrath says...

Hey up Cyrus, dont worry, as said by Atlas most likely oily hands on the exhaust etc, the later non starting sounds like the imobiliser, as your close by will can come to you tomorrow and sort it for you no problems, ( have pmed time / arrangements )

Cheers

Jeff
