Hi guys, coming back from Southport today, my speedo started bouncing about and just reading nonsense. Is it likely to be the converter, or is there some other likely culprit ? By the way, its even worse if I go over a bump, but reads between 20 and 40 when just pottering along so gonna get caught by a f****** Gatso if I dont sort it quick. 1980 Jap N/A by the way. Thanks guys

Have you fitted new dials or had the needles out recently?

That can do it as well..

Hi Murt, yeah 1990. A bit brain dead at the moment mate. No Andy, no new dials or needles out. Thinking it may be the sensor on the box Kieth. It's an auto by the way. Thanks for the help all. Just noticed my membership has run out. Must renew asap.

Hi Graham, could this be caused by the fault I told you about, i.e. the flashing speedo illumination bulb ?

Hi Graham, could this be caused by the fault I told you about, i.e. the flashing speedo illumination bulb ?

Hi Maz

Unlikely a bulb causing it, i had a similar problem when i had a delimiter box fitted, if its lose ie:not taped or cable tied tightly to something, it tends to rattle around and eventually can cause problems, the wires to the clocks from the box may not be making a good connection or the most common is dry joints on the pcb board on the back of the speedo clock.

You will find many threads about the same issues if you do a search.

After resoldering the tracks on the board the issue 9 times out of 10 gets solved

ps if you have a blue led playing up, let me know and i will send you another one to replace it

HTH

Cheers

Graham
