First things first, I pretty sure this is the boost solenoid connection:

 

 

Trouble is i can't for the life of me find the other end that it plugs into and with no boost controller my car sucks on the power stakes :(

 

On a different/possibly related thing, i found the hose thats been blocked off:

 

 

I get the feeling the car has had a boost controller in the past but it doesn't now and I don't intend to fit one just yet, it would just be nice for it to boost above "6" on the stock gauge.

 

On a plust note, the front of the car is fitted with coil overs :D

the pipe with the screw init,

 

that just goes to the Intercooler pipes at the front, i think, then connects to the re-circs.

With no solenoid connected, your turbos will be running unlimted boost.

think he means he cant find the connector on the loom to plug it to.

 

 

it could be a TT engine in a NA car, with NA loom.

 

the NA loom doesnt have the wire/connector that plugs into the boost solenoid.

 

 

perhaps then someone has had a electronic boost controller fitted at some point. but then removed it when sold it.

 

 

if you dont have the wire on the loom to plug to the solenoid, you need a electronic boost controller.

That is the wastgate solenoid connector as you said, assuming your zed has all the correct cables/ connectors as it should then the other part of that plug is hanging down below the area your looking at, may need to remove some pipes etc. to access it.

 

The pipe which is plugged is to the EGR valve actuator and in no problem having it disconnected.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look for them when I do the PCV valves in the near future. It's definitely a TT chassis as it has the hicas rear etc. I checked the boost today by flooring it on the dual carriage way and the needle only came up half way between 0 and +7 I did a check for error codes and got a 55 which is nothing wrong I'm lead to believe?

yea 55 is normal mate.

look for the wire :)

 

 

engine bay is a bit crowded! just take your time and make sure its light so you can see :)

It's a never ending saga with this car :rant:still I wanted a project so tomorrow I shall look for the other connections. The two i can find seem to be coming from the loom. I have no idea where to look for the other connectors other than down the side of the block.

the loom doesnt have lots and lots of length on it,

 

the are quite tight, so the connection has gotta be in that area somewhere.

 

unless theyv been cut off, as someone has had an EBC in there.

 

 

if yout 100% sure you cant find it, or suspect its been cut off, you need a EBC. about £100 for the old model HKS ones, so its not the end of the world

If the plugs have been cut off and cannot be located just apply an ignition controlled power supply to the boost solenoids and all will be restored, note though there will be no det control.

i havent the connections on my solenoids, as used a NA loom.

 

 

theres 2 wires on them, asume + and -

 

so if you fit an ignition powerd + on them, itl allow it to boost the standard 10 PSI isit?

 

 

whats the det part you mention? if you use an EBC do you then get det control?

Yes if you power the solenoids you will get full standard boost, as far as det protection with the standard set up if the det sensor detects a problem it kills the power to the solenoids to reduce boost.

 

With a boost controller most people disconnect the solenoids anyway so this facility is lost.

 

However the ecu will still retard the ignition if det occurs so a degree of engine protection still exists.

so which end have i got? i thought i have the loom end, it's the other end i can't find, it's all very confusing, especially as i'm not really sure where to look lol. had a good look today with a torch and still can't see anything on either side.

 

On the plus side, both front fogs work now, both side lights work and i got the horn working today :) sounds like a toy car though!!

thats the loom side.

 

 

you need to attach it to the solenoid on the side of the engine.

 

remember, there are 2 solenoids, 1 each side of the engine. so look at the oposite side to check that one too :dance:

well had a quick look today, (didn't find anything) was going to have a look under the car but due to events this morning i couldn't be bothered.

 

As I said yesterday I "fixed" my horn. Worked great then about 2am the horn on my car just went off, woke most of my neighbours (not that I care) but I had to pull the earth off the horn to shut it up. It had been parked up since 9.30pm ish.

 

Went out after work, did nothing but put the earth back on and quiet as a mouse. press the horn button and it works fine. This one's got me proper stumped. I just swapped the horn over to the other side.

 

Best I can come up with is the horn push. It moves very little to sound the horn when you push it, so maybe the drop in temp had something to do with it over night? Any was until I get a newer/better one I just pull the earth off when I park up.

 

The problems continue..................................

umm...

 

pertend the horn incident didnt happen, worry about it if it happens again lol

 

sort the solenoids out tho mate, crap on 7PSI/safety boost

Definately need more boost, will try and see what I can find tomorrow
