is there much of a difference, except price? and do they work the same - i suppose the electric ones look better in the car tho, would they give me an improvement? and any rough guesses as to how much bhp?

Electric ones know what they are doing! And will stop it over boosting (if set correct!) You have to guess on manual ones! If you guess wrong byebye turbos!

hmm ok makes sense to spend a little more then. do you know what sort of gains i could be looking at?

No a clue mate, i will wait for someone to come along to answer all of those questions, im not very good with those types of questions :P

With supporting modifications (Catback exhaust, Induction kit and a ECU Chip) running a typical 14psi (1bar) then you can typically expect anything from 340-380bhp depending on engine condition.

With a few more supporting mods - Decat, Lightweight crank pulley, lightweigth flywheel its possible to hit around 400hp
