Just bought a 300ZX NA, with this strange contraption in the passenger footwell.

 

Any idea what it is?

 

im guessing some kind of tv aerial, judging by the bnc connector. Whats it connected too.

No the Whotsimacelled was in the UK spec from 92, the jap spec has the Hoojimawatsit

I think either the Zed has been used as a Taxi or someone has fitted some sort of a CB radio in it! This arm being a bracket for holding it not really sure how or even why they would do it like this, but it would answer why there is a co-ax with a BNC with it.

My first thought was that it looked very much like the mid '90's CD Walkman type brackets you could buy for cars back then, but that wouldn't explain the cable, unless it was a mobile TV unit!

So it sounds like I can get rid of it then!

Yep - defo an aerial that's no longer needed

Whatever it was, I'm pleased to say it's gone. Got rid of it this evening and things are starting to look normal...
