Good effort mate, like to see folks do their own repairs / maintenance. Looks a fair bit of work. How are you going to sort the sill.

Some more prep work and then the side skirt can be fitted and smoothed into the side and then will nearly be ready for this side to be prepeped for painting.

Top job mate. Know what you mean about removing the stonechip, I'm at the stage where I wish I'd never started..lol

Jesus.

Wouldn't fancy doing that myself, especially all that filler in the swage line.......

Good luck though!

very nice mate, got to do my arches soon, whats the best to use e.g to rub down and fill in etc.

Are yours rusty? If so, then a rub down and fill isn't the solution.

I found also that when the rear sills were like that there was what looks like a small rusty bit under the front sill floorpan side roughly where front door edge is that also needs attention. Better to cut it out and do it now before it spreads.

nice work...

why do i suck at things like that, could never make a nice job at some body work.

have checked it all and touch wood there is now no rust at all on the drivers side. but once this side is done i will investigate the passenger side. hope thats not too bad.

i used a wire wheel that goes on the angle grinder. It removes all the bad metal and just cleans up the good metal. Then i used p38 filler to get the shape sand roughly to shape and refill with a fie paste filler and sand with some 400-800 grit wet n dry paper.

That will come back. Arches rot from the insides, so no matter how much you sand down the side that shows, the gout will come through.

Hopefully there wont rot again, the wire wheel removes all the bad metal completely whether its bad on the inside or out, it rips apart bad metal leaving only good remaining. so they should last for years to come

The wire wheel will still only remove material from the visible surface, it will come back I'm afraid.

after a long wait finally got round to doing drivers side, decided sills are a pain :death:.

Not managed to upload some of the pics yet but these will do.

Have got some pictures somewhere of just how much had to be cut out( it was a lot).

Both front and rear of sill had to be fabricated from scratch.

Lots of welding and cups of coffees later and we had it looking something like a car again :cool2:

After getting most of the shaping done, i give it a few coats of paint to give me a idea of how it was going to look
