July 2, 200916 yr Just fitted a big 12 row oil cooler from a Showgun. One of the old pipes didnt quite reach so used some 10mm vaccum pipe. Will this do? It seems ok no leaks and doesnt bulge or anything when the car is running. :wack: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=270387532406
July 2, 200916 yr Author The stock pipes are almost the same, same thickness wall just a bit harder compound
July 2, 200916 yr No way I would take a chance using that pipe, get the proper pipe. Paul What he said, get a proper bit of hose for sure, better safe than sorry. The oil may even eat through that silicon stuff and render it useless with out you even knowing till its too late.
July 2, 200916 yr Author Yeah ill nip down the shop tomorrow, fuel hose might be the way forward is petrol eats more than oil
July 3, 200916 yr Author Hmm shop say that fuel hose is not rated for oil. Ebay people say there vaccum hose is fine for oil. Only other thing the shop have is braided 3ply silicone which is £30 a meter. More than i bought the cooler for!
July 3, 200916 yr It may be ok for oil, but when you add heat and pressure it is a different matter, how many car makers use silicon in this way. Paul
July 7, 200916 yr I know this topic was started some time ago but I've only just seen this. NOOOOOO! Do NOT use VACUUM hose for anything other than AIR! Fuel, coolant and oil will degrade the silicone and cause all sorts of leaks/problems. In order to transport oil you'll need to buy some silicone tubing which is lined with Fluro-Silicone. This is quite expensive (around £30.00 per meter for ID10mm tubing). If you still need this, please let me know as I can get this type of tubing from one of my silicone suppliers. HTH Dan
July 7, 200916 yr Author Used braided fuel line in the end about £4 a meter, looks and feels like just the old stuff
