need to remove air intake manifold and head to check cylinder linings( engine siezed) found most of the bolts but must have missed a few as it will not lift off, am I missing something.

has anyone got the instructions for this as my service manual does not list where the bolts are holding everything together.

am I just wasting my time and should I just buy another complete engine to drop in or am I better off lifting the complete engine out and performing surgery outside the engine bay.

FYI its a 1990 twin turbo with manual gearbox.

initially only bought the car for its wheels Volk split rim.

but the car has grown on me so will be rebuilding it.

There are a load of coolant/breather hoses on the underside of the plenum that always make it hard to remove. You might as well cut the smaller coolant ones and do a bypass. Search for plenum bypass

Always good to hear of another escaping the scrapper :D

If you're going all the way down to the block you may as well pull the engine. I can get the intake manifold off in about 30 mins but to get the head off as well you're talking about a fair bit of work just to get to it especially the pipes going everywhere on the block.

When deleting the water pipe connectors from the throttle body's etc - is there any need to PLUG the holes that remain??

I have read a couple of different versions of plenum pulls and water bypass - and I have not seen any mention of plugging any holes. Have I missed something - or just bing manic ;-))
