Hi,

Took my front bumper off to sort a few things out today and I have surface rust on a few bits. I'm thinking of using some sort of underseal but do they completely dry or remain tacky?

Can anyone recommend anything to use?

Cheers

Vijay

Some treatments 'creep'. Waxoil does and because of this, is best to do on a hot/sunny day if you're injecting into box sections etc.

bilt hamber stuff is great, used to use waxoyl till i found this, all their stuff really works well, far superior imo.

ill second that. waxoil just seems to keep the rust under it and continues to rust.

im using alot of bilt humber stuff on my 200sx restoration/project

Yep Bilt Hamber for me as well, reportedly waxoyl dries out over time cracks and lets moisture seep in under it causing water to collect which is then unable to drain away.

Dinatrol is another that is recommended by some of the classic car clubs.

Thanks guys, I'll look into bilt humber and dinatrol :)

ACF-50. Aviation grade rust inhibitor. Used a lot by bikers - bikes really need protecting much more than cars.

waxoil is just an undersealer, you need to put a rust stopper (like dinitrol) on first to stop the rust. Then you can use waxoil

What would you guys use on brackets and smaller metal parts? I'm wondering if something like Hammerite would work?

Vijay

The problem with hammerite is that stuff dosent like to stick to it too well, ie underseal etc.

When I did my all the welding on my car I used stuff called Eastwoods rust encapsulator its a bit like primer but seals the metal and can be overpainted.

I bought it from here http://www.frost.co.uk/about_us.asp they aint cheap but have lots of goot stuff.

Cheers. I'm basically looking for something that can be painted or sprayed onto parts that will offer some protection.
