Most PC-based MP3 players have the ability to write WAV files. WinAmp does it well, as does Sonique. You just have to change the "Output Device".

As for commercial in-car MP3 components - haven't a clue, but I'm building my own with a little help!

Kenwood has a few in-car MP3-ers at the moment.

the MP6090R, Z919 & Z828 (These last 2 are excelons.)

Or you can use NERO burning-rom (cd-writer software), which is quite good at converting mp3's to CD

Yeah, Nero ain't bad but the best is Adaptec. It has a music maker section where you can take any music source from, or connected to, your computer (record player/WAV/MP3/WMA/tape deck). It lets you arrange the compilation and then burn it. It even has things for equalising the different volumes and removing pops and clicks from "noisy" sources.

cheers gents..........just as i get it all sorted my cd writer decides to go tits up on me ah well back to tiny tomorrow it was so well behaved for the last year as well

Alpine are bringing out an in dash CD unit that plays MP3 files without having to convert them.

I was told it's out in the next couple of months.

Andrew, When I got my writer it only had Nero v5.0 with it. Where would I get the Adaptec Software??

right im back in business i even stuck another 256meg of ram in i got the adaptec writer with my new writer but it still doesn't have a mp3 to cd audio converter on it though...... i need to find one quick as the beast is now in the hands of the kit fitter/sprayers for a week so ive got plenty of time on my hands

You need at least CD-creator 4.

Select 'create audio-cd' and just drag and drop MP3/MP2/WMA/etc-files into the contents-window.

I still prefer Nero above Adaptec software though ;-)

(at least Nero tells you when something's wrong with a certain MP3-file..so you you won't f*ck up the CD)

Howdy,

I use Nero as I have some hassle with quality on Adaptec Easy CD 4.

Try the Nero site: -

You can download an evaluation copy from here.

You want to get your hands on Adaptec Easy CD Creator 5. MUCH better than v4. Get from:

http://www.roxio.com/en/products/ecdc/

There may be other ways of getting it though ;-)

Andy

i use adaptec and its fine u just drag and drop and then write and it converts it to digital cd music easy as that

Can you BURN Sony playstation games with Adaptec...? Nope, Nero Yes, but anywho, I use Nero, Not only does it burn in less time than Adaptec, but it BURNS EVERYthing =)

If you guys catch me later, I'll put up a link for a FREE FULL version of Nero 5.
