Last time the car went in for work doing they must have lost a wheel nut.

Anyone know if it's an MOT failure?

I think they are special nuts that came with my alloys but I'll take a pic and see if anyone has a spare knocking about ;)

I know the feeling mate, bottom end went on mine and I had no choice but to rebuild but glad I spent the money in the end. Took it off the road until I could afford it.

Will keep an eye out.

You might as well have had my spare engine that I "sold" and was never paid for :(

just to confirm yes it is an MOT failure, it has 5 nuts on each wheel for a reason so they see it as unsafe with just 4. (even though its probably been like it for ages)

Yes my Azev wheels have center covers so it's hidden normally :(

I might have to put a different nut on for now and hope they don't start being fussy that it doesn't fit to the wheel surface correctly.

It's booked in for Wednesday so unless Mac has a spare I can get in time I might just have to.

If the wheels have covers then the MOT guy is never going to know.

Obviously get another as soon as you can though.

Don't they do a visual check of brakes etc or is it just the brake performance test?

I always thought the wheels had to come off for some reason

Maybe I don't need to worry then :D

They check all the brake lines and pads etc but this can be done with the wheels on.

I have never had my wheels taken off there is no need :)

Probably the least of my worries for the MOT anyway LOL

Fingers crossed.

If you've got center caps that cover the wheel nuts, the MOT tester will never know whats under there as we're not allowed to remove anything, not even hub caqps to check brakes. So if he can't see how many nuts you have, oh er, then he can't fail it. Just make sure theres no movement between the wheel & hub.
