i fill up once per week usually and have noticed over the last month or so that the price is slowly creeping up again, filled up again today at an esso garage and it back up at 99.9p per litre from something around 84p about 4/5 months ago

i dont really understand why the price of oil fluctuates so much and anybody who could explain i would be really interested, just does my head in, seems they have a licence to print there own money and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

my next daily drive is defo either hybrid/electric or LPG, something that doesnt fluctuate so much and i have some control over.

the cost alwyas creaps up for the summer where people drive on holiday and all the bikes come out then the price falls about november

Yup. I get through 2 to 3 tanks of fuel a week. Used to cost me about £45 to full the Leon, but now it costs about £52. Some places are up to 107.9ppl for diesel now.

The AA and the consumer wacht people , are looking into the fuel companys keeping the prices high, while the barral costs are going down

Yep noticed it's creaping up again cant remember exact last local figure , but it was certainly more than 102.9 for 97 unleaded at one garage :(

makes me sick, really cant understand why the cost of the raw material which takes no more or less effort or cost to produce/pump from the reserves goes up and down so much depending on what time of the year it is, there seems to be no explination.

basically the oil companies can virtually control the entire population by changing the price of a barrel of oil.

Its not the oil companys ,its the petrol pumps that have the prices jacked up ,crude oil is still droping

the cost of the oil is all over the place depending on what seems to be nothing, it was at its highest in june last year ($130) then dropped all the way down to about $35 in december 08, at the moment its about $65 a barrel, just seems to up and down with no explination, and yes i also agree that the pumps also see as an excuse to add a couple of pence and just blame on the oil prices

Keep an eye on petrolprices.com, support the cheaper garages and avoid the expensive ones, it's pretty much all you can do.

On the sky news last wk, the AA and some other org ,are looking into price fixing by the forcourts, by up to 30/35pence per ltr

No it's the oil companies, as someone in the trade no matter what the price on the pump is weither it's high or low we still make the same ppl. You might get that in brand run forecourts but most indepandants like us try to keep the price down as much as we can. It also doesn't help now that esso have closed their terminal to all other companies in Avonmouth. Now our fuel comes from lincon and we are in south wales!

problem is, oil is a trading commodity and the price fluctuates with the markets.

Still sticks in my throat the amount of tax we pay compared to the cost of a gallon

If you don't like fluctuations then LPG is the wrong thing to go for!

My Discovery V8 is LPG converted and the prices are just crazy.

As low as 45p a litre in central Leeds where I work but near home 15 miles away it's 65p!

Makes about £8 difference on a fill up!

Can still fill it for £20 though at 45p :D

Not as many LPG stations about so if you find one you can't afford to pass it or you end up using petrol and in a 4 litre V8 that weighs 2 tonnes it really hurts your wallet!

Selling it soon if anyone is interested? got too many cars now the Z is nearly sorted.

'97 Discovery 3.9 V8i XS Auto LPG dual fuel £1700 :)

there is a jet garage about 5 mins away from my house, its been at 49.9p for the last year or so, the only reason i know is every time i drive past it a little bit of sick comes up:rofl::rofl:

LOL

Thing is you get 20% less mileage on LPG so once it gets up to 60 odd pence it's not much different to petrol while it's been 85p ish.

Crazy thing is LPG creeps up with the petrol prices when they have nothing to do with each other.

Robbing barstewards!

What I find even more crazy is that millions of litres of the stuff are burnt off at refineries and oil platforms every day going to waste but we have to pay good money for the stuff!

didnt knowthat about the milage and lpg, think i might have to research this a little more, you just know as soon as another form of fuel catches on and get popular the producing company will jack up the prices, and the government tax it to death, we cant win.

Problem I have is unless I go out at lunch time at work and fill up it's not worth it but it's a pain having to remember and go out specially.

If I forget and have to fill near home it costs me £27 instead of £20

It's still better than petrol though it would cost me about £45 to do the same distance.

Went to Scotland last bank holiday and worked out where the LPG stations were so it should have only cost me £35 ish each way but...

Half the stations had run out as they don't get regular deliveries and everyone was on the roads for bank holiday so I had to do half the trip on petrol costing me an extra £75 :(

They don't tell you all this when you read up on cheap LPG motoring!

If you can get a car that's already LPG converted it's worth it but spending £1500 to £2000 converting an existing car would take forever to pay back unless you do massive miles.

On a car you also lose the boot space to a huge tank.

On 4x4's they usually mount underneath so you don't lose the boot :)
