Hi again, just wanted to ask if everyones Z is a nightmare to drive in the wet, mine is useless i have to go everywhere slow, even if the roads are just slighty damp i'am going sideways, although when i am on my own its not a prob as i love it, buts its not so good with the missus & boy in the car. i'am not new to rwd turbo cars. My tryes have been stretched onto the rim, they are 235, with quite a large stretch, seems very small for the type of car any suggestions other then learn to drift, which by the way i am getting very good at lol.

better tyres, tyres that fit, check if there is any play in the rear inner and outer balljoints, check ya shockers

HTH

There was a noticeable difference after i got 4 new tyres , it did slide out a little in the wet before hand even at low speeds :)

I can give mine a fair bit of beans but it will step out, but I know the limit of it quite well and never really go daft in the rain. I have 265 Falk 452's. As said above make sure your pressures are correct.

HICAS arms could be fooked. years ago (!) when my hicas arms were shafted, the rear of the car would hop all over the place when i went over bumps. do you get that problem?

yeah mine are only 235 and like i say they have been stretched on, its leathel in the wet, although i like peoples faces as i power out of the slide. suppose it has its good sides i love islands now lol. i'am gonna fit right size tyre's and see how it goes.

Yeahp check your Hicas, also when was the last time you had a 4 wheel alignment done, if ever? as I think the rear wheels are set with toe in on the TT to reduce oversteer. If you have toe out on your front/rear wheels it will cause oversteer especially with the Hicas.

235's are way to small for a TT on the rear. You at least need a minimum of 265's

Im going for 275's next. I have never had any problems at all in the wets even when i had slicks on.

You just have to drive acordingly ;)

I don't drive my Z in the wet! LOL

yes we all know, uve mentioned it plenty :D

I only have 255's on the rear and il tell ya what, the old tyres i had on were pirelli pzero which i thought were the BOLOX how wrong was i, they must have past their sell by date or something as i couldnt put power down in 1st 2nd or sometimes even 3rd gear, in the rain 4th would spin up. I was baffeled for ages  stooopidly i used them on the track and was all over the place.... i then fitted some falken 452s to the rear and it hardly spins up in first gear now, what a difference they have made. at japfest i had loads more confidence with the rear end. I cant wait to try some proper tyres..... maybe even r888's

Falkens are ok for now but still a budget tyre. Tyres make all the difference. Your car may aswell drive on the rims if your tyres are crappy.

Anyway id say 235 is a bit skinny for the rear you have to remmeber the zed has to carry 1600kg at the rear when you accelerate so its quite a load.

lol just my two pence worth :D

What tyre make are they mate?

I had brigstones and good year eagels on all around and i rate falkens over them anyday. cannot wait to get the 275s on :hyper:

The Make and Model of tyre makes all the difference, like night and day.

Why are the jap ones 225 standard?

Its Something to do with Tyre Sidewall profile regulations in Japan.

The rears are 245 wide for UK/European and U.S Models.

Dont underestimate the Falkens. I rate them quite high myself. They are indeed budget price but perform with the best of them.

Ofcourse road legal slicks like the R888 are a different ballgame altogether (for dry weather anyway lol)

im not underestimating them.. they have performed well above my expectations, i think the tyre walls are a bit soft tho. im getting wear on the outer edge of the tyre and mainly the outside tread whereas the insides are pretty new still, i know its mainly down to the track days but maybe i could do with some more negative camber.

what are the recomemnded tyre pressures for the front?

I run 31psi all around. dont know if its right but it works for me. however mine wear down pritty quick on the inner edges. they are smooth all round and the rest of the tyre is ok.

Im running 2degre negative camber all round

i find that my car does'nt really spin up anymore in the wet than in the dry, in fact i find it more twitchy in the dry.

255's on the rear and falken tyres that were discontinued over 5 years ago :)

Good tyres with the right pressures makes a big difference.

There you go - tyres make all the difference!

When I bought my Z it had brand new Avon ZZ3s all round and it handled like shit in the wet. I replaced them with Goodyears and it was like a different car:bow:

Richard;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
