no i am watching another one on ebay, so i cant fit one for the time being, just wanted to know, love the noise but dont wanna wreck my car by just fitting one.

Dont fit it.

Where are you looking to fit it? In place of the stock recirc? On hardpipes in the engine bay?

I definitely wouldn't be fitting just one. If your insistant, wait until you get the second one.

Sorry to butt in.. Just out of curiosity, why would nobody fit a dump valve?.. I can't see any immediate benefits from it myself, but is there some specific reason as to why others wouldn't?.. CheerZ

There are no benefits for most Z applications (unless you're running mental HP). Some people just like their car to sound like it has airbrakes from a Scania lorry! :wack:

haha, I wonder how they affect the car thoiugh, because from what I can work out.. No manufacturer ever puts them on a car standard, so they can't be that good, or else nissan/subaru e.t.c would have fitted them standard...?

There are standard on many cars, just not the woooosh ones an all R5's and RS turbos you hear every night at mcdonolds.

atmospheric dump valves (the ones you can hear) are rarely used as standard because a) its down to choice whether you like them or not, and b) recirculating valves (that you cant hear unless theyre fooked) make the car a tiny tiny bit faster when changing up. i have them on mine and love the sound of them - its just the 'boy racer' stereotype that lets them down

Atmospheric DVs aren't fitted to any factory produced car AFAIK. Recirculating valves only.

In the main, they are just willy-waving mods.

Yes didn't really explain did i. I did mean the recirculating ones as standard, was told there not really intended for performance but for turbo reliability.

Si you make me laugh, you say what you mean & dont go round the house's. i love the noise, must be like marmite lol.

youll need the pair mate.

why?

surely if you had 1 recirc valve on one of the IC pipes,

and one DV on the other IC pipe,

the car woudnt recognise any difference and still work?

or even if you removed 1 re-circ, blocked it up,

then on the other pipe remvoe the recirc & replace with a DV?

cant see why that wont work

i could be wrong but ive never heard of a single BOV on a twin-turbo'd engine. may as well do the job properly and wait until you've got the pair.

Lol... ye 'seen' all sorts in our time..

Wonder why so many 300zx's are shagged, nothing to do with unreliability !

lol yea,

well its just the same really, 2 dump valves on 1 car is going to sound loud.

as our cars are twin turbos, would be nice to do things symetrical and have 2.

but as before im sure it would be fine to run 1

If you fancy going to the hassle of fabricating another balance bar and fitting it between the intake pipes!

Good find Si, sounds just like it.. lol

Wouldn't mind the air horns off it though, now that would be cool
