Took my Z out for a spin up the motorway on the hottest recorded day of the year!.. Got to where I wanted to be.. parked up & just popped the bonnet to help it cool down, but as I did that I noticed there was a kind of white smoke/steam coming from the back of the engine.. or the top?..

I have attached a pic of an engine to show you where I mean & replicated the smoke. :D

Any ideas what this could be?

have a look at the 2 pipes that go into your heater, they're located there

Well if is steam then as Vijay says is most likely the 2 large metal pipes leaking that enter the bulkhead that supply water to your Heater matrix.

If however its white smoke rather than steam that is possible a leaking rocker cover gasket dripping oil onto the exhaust.

Yeah it was just steam, it's never done it before.. and it didn't do it today either... it was just an extremely hot day and I had went for a good run - I haven't seen those 2 pipes that go to the heater matrix, could someone tell me where to look please & would that affect the cabin temp?

Finally, how much would a rocker cover gasket cost if it needed replacing?

dont think its very expensive at all for the gasket,

and changing it isnt very difficult, as its just the rocker cover coming off, not the head
