Hi guy's

Just to let you all know I have just started useing a new paint system from the States. It means I can now apply a full chrome finish to any surface, even plastic. So I was thinking what I could use it on first. After seeing some of the attempt on chroming the front lights I thought I would have a go.

As it happened I had a spare pair of lights, so this is how it went.

After opening up the lights and stripping out the insert. A light rub over and then the base coat was layed on.

Then the chrome efect

A couple of layers of lacker and a polish and...

Its a little hard to see the reflection through the glass but I think you can get the idea.

I left the ring around the lams as a bit of contrast and I quite like it. What do you think..

Chris.

have you tried painting a whole car in chrome??? i know its been done but i think the zed would look great in chrome! or black chrome,....

but as for small parts, inserts, cam covers etc i think i would be interested if you start doing then for the club!

The set up I have is only the smaller one. I needed to make sure it worked first, but if it catches on I will be mooveing up to the full jobbie, then I can paint anything. I think you would have to be a footballer to have a fully chrome car. But you never know...

That will do for me but do you have the footballer's income to pay for it. Would be in excess of £6000 and would need all the glass out so as not to leave any edges. So start saveing...........

There is a kit just for wheels but I need to see how it goes first as the outlay is rather large but yes I think wheels are a great option, just not yet though

Chris..

Interesting stuff! Would love my 99 inserts done in proper chrome.

May I just say this is not Chrome it is a painted on system, but it's as close as you can get, and it will go on anything.

Ok guyes there has been some interset in what parts I can chrome (efect).

The answer is anything. I will try and put togeather some sort of price list on the sort of parts that have been requested. The prices will be for Club Members Only...

The System I am useing is Spectra Chrome and it comes from the USofA.

If you want to take a look at it in action go to http://www.sprayonchrome.com

As I believe it it is the first system like it in the UK.

Chris..

i deffo would like the chrome effect for the group buy 99 spec headlights if possible, what would be the best colour to have em in for you plain white i suppose?:)

Chris..

Can anyone tell me if having my front lights chromes will alter the effect of the lights at night. We all know how poor they are as standard!!!

CHROMED sorry

Makes no difference to the light output(or lack of output!)

You need to install HID system to help with that.

would you be intrested in doing a set of wheels there are chrome already but is starting to flake looked into getting them rechromed but worked out more expensive than what the wheels cost me in the first place

Sorry I dont have the setup for wheels yet. If they are chrome you would have to have them stripped first, this can be done by a plataing company. If you do that you would be better off getting them chrome plated again. UK chrome plate is far better than chrome from the USA so would stay on far better.

I have managed to get hold of a spare set of lights so I will be chromeing them this week. I was thinking of selling them on an exchange basis for £120. The lights will be stripped and cleaned then chrome finnished. These will be stoch inserts not the 99 ones. So who will be the first one.

Any exchange units must be complete, this way it will keep the supply going.

I can also do a turn around, if you wish to say have the 99 inserts chromed and fitted into the lights you already have. I will split clean and rebuild for the same price.

Thanks.

Chris..
