I agree with Legrath, on all that he said actually, also it needs major work straight away being an auto... lol

The pics aint great either, no pic showing if any wear on drivers seat as there should not be any on that mileage. definatly needs to be seen before saying how great it is.

I take it you didn't read this then?......

I...It's a very tidy car indeed. It's been used (very little BTW) in a nice dry climate so absolutely no rust; the engine, gearbox and suspension all feel "right" for a car of such low mileage. Plus the (stock) brakes are excellent as the car has obviously not been shagged around for 18 years!

The only negative points were some faded paint on the bumper below the headlights owing to the heat in the Middle East; the a/c has been uprated to cope with the climate out there but it's currently not working and it needs a new radio & radio facia surround.

It's a true UK spec that was shipped overseas but has now returned to Blighty.

I will be placing a bid as I think the car should go to an enthusiast like most of us, rather than to someone who will ruin it.

Richard:)

Ye i did read it, but no disrespect to Richard as i know he is a fussy kind of guy, but everyone has there own opinion on condition 'mint' i.e.

Brakes work well so has not been hammered around, dont quite understand that to be honest, i know Z's that get hammered and the stock brakes work as well as they can.

As for the mileage, its very hard to prove its genuine, a 80,000m one that has been looked after will still drive extremely nice.

At the end of the day, we are not all going to agree which way or another, and that is good because that means we arn't all the same! ;)

If the person who buys it eventually is happy with it, and he/she has what they want, then that is a result for the Zed community, because we know, especially if it's someone like Richard, it'll be cherished and kept in a nice condition.

No matter what your (Z community in general) opinion of how a Zed should look, keeping at least some of them in as near original as possible is what we should be striving for.

There is no wear on either of the front seats - although some good leather feed treatment would be a good idea. The hot climate it's been in has hardened it a little in places.......

I understand what you mean - I wouldn't say it's mint; just very tidy and "feels right" for what it's described as. I cannot say whether the mileage is genuine but I saw no reason to doubt it. I wouldn't buy the car just based on its mileage though.......

As for my "brakes" comment; there are plenty of posts here saying how crap Z brakes are after 15+ years. However in reality, a ZX's brakes are good - it's age and the strain of stopping of a 1.5 tonne 155mph car that takes its toll on them. There have also been posts describing how Z brakes have no immediate "bite" from low speeds. Well this one brakes like a modern, brand new car. Bear in mind that I had just stepped out of a 3 year old SLK350, which has superb brakes! Of course they could have been replaced; but my Z has new-ish grooved discs, upated pads and the calipers have been fixed but this Z would easily outbrake mine:p

In short, this is a nice original example that wouldn't take much to bring it up to a real pristine car. However I will not pay over the odds for it, considering that some things like painting the bumper and re-commissioning the a/c could cost £££s.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

oh, its also not the lowest mileage out there either

Who's got a lower mileage one??

I have emailed the guy a couple of questions days ago, still not got a reply ! dunno if anyone else has ?!

He won't answer over the weekend mate - he is selling it via his company and is only available to field questions and accept viewings during office hours!

Which was badly timed since the auction ends b/h monday......!

I remember a zed at se nissan[nisstec] think bloke had it from new uk car with only a few hundred miles on it was just like new underneath this was 10 years ago .:):)

Well it's gone for £4600 - I was only prepared to go to £4k for the car.........

....and according to the seller, I was the only one to actually be bothered to see it first!

As tidy as I thought it was, on current prices and in recognition of what I would have to spend on painting the front bumper & re-commissioning the A/C; plus it is an auto (not that I really care, but it does effect value;)) my honest opinion was £4k max.

So I'm pleased I resisted the E-Bay ego problem of winning at any cost......

.......but at the same I'm a little concerned that a potential "keeper" of a Z may end up in a sad mollested state:nono:

I wish the new owner all the best and hope to see him/her on here as a new member and true enthusiast.

good try Richard and yes lets hope it goes to a good home and at that price I think it will so hope we get to hear of him on the fourm but sad you did not get it.:(

Cheers Gary - I did wonder afterwards if I should have gone further to secure it......

.....but I do think I made the right choice in sticking to my guns.

I hope it went to a good home - it'd be a shame if it didn't. Still like you say, only an enthusiast would pay the final price!

It was a good find on your part though - I'm just sorry I could not have brought it into the club myself!
