Despite fitting a new centre bearing some months previous the owner of this zed was disappointed when the vibration returned, but when the vibration changed to knocking he new best to get it checked out.

Knocking from under the transmission tunnel was enough of a clue where the problem lay but when removed the propshaft coupling condition was a horror photo, unfortunately not possible to show in the photo`s but you could almost part it completely, imagine at motorway speeds if that happened.

Lesson here is to not ignore sounds like this, the owner had the presence of mind to not only stop using the car but transported it by trailer to us, the centre bearing had been installed correctly and it would seem the failure of the front shaft coupling to be a coincidence.

A common problem now that manufacturers have done away with grease nipples on these joints although letting it get to this state is a bit silly. This is where servicing by proper mechanics would pay off as they would be aware of the potential failure and check them out when being serviced.
