Wondering can anyone help

Car has been giving problems lately, I think I have a battery drain when car is parked up

I need to jump start it everytime I start. I can put the battery on charge and she'll start no problem in the morning. Go to work and come out a few hours later and no luck. The dash lights dim , the air con unit display dissappears and the starter dosent even attempt to turn over

Battery is brand new as is the starter motor. I have a feeling it could be my immobiliser thats causing the drain but dose anyone have any other ideas

Cheers

Roy

Why not disconnect the battery when you arrive at work or get home at night, and then re-connect when you want to start it just to see if there is any difference, i.e., the battery staying charged or still being discharged. At least then you will know you have something draing the battery whilst its parked. If all OK and if you thinks it the alarm, take the fuse out during your time at work and see if the battery remains charged. If not then you have something else remaining on such as the boot light.

If you have electric seats make sure the button didn't get jammed happened to me once!!!

Remember all new batteries come with 2-3year warranty get a replacement or get it tested by whom you bought it from!

After market immoblisers often have nicad battery back up packs and when they're dead they consume milliamps continuously. If your alarm fails to chirp then battery back up pack is probably dead.

Get a Voltmeter. Fully charge battery and take a reading, leave for a couple of hours and take another reading to see if the battery has lost its ability to hold charge.

diodes in the alternater can blow and the one way current can then leak back out or summit anyway I changed the alternator and no more flat battery of my escort that is

You can also get someone to take a reading whilst cranking the engine over (remove the fuel pump relay so she doesn't start!) - Anything from about 9 1/2 or 10 volts up whilst cranking over and the battery is useable to good (about 10 1/2 volts for a completely sound one)
