My mate got a seat lean cupra 1.8t 20v with front mount intercooler, remap & induction kit, he's running at a guess 235bhp he wants to race me, should i waste some fuel, need to change my gear box oil as it crunches at very high rev's when i change gear its perfect when driving normal, any suggestions peeps, as tomorrow i'am gonna kill him on a quarter mile.

It may see you off up to about 60....or at least keep to you (if you have a stock Z). Wack some boost jets in for the day and see the other side of the coin. :)

 

The Z isn't about the quarter mile. You can get results if you tune them, but where the VG comes into its own is mid range. Out on the road power. 1/4 mile has never interested me. Unless you're interested in traffic light grand prix, then I wouldn't bother.

PS, get some MT90 for the gearbox. Not cheap, but good stuff.

 

all hail mt90! drove mine for the first time today just up the road and back not a crunch in site and i was booting it to see if it would crunch....mt90 to the rescue!!

Dump valves will do absolutely nothing for performance gains.

 

I think the Leon will still give you a run for its money up to about 40. Small front wheel drive cars with that sort of power are very snappy.

The leon cupra r are very dissapointing motors. 225 hp std and can only get to 60 in 7secs.

 

I was able to beat them quite easy in me fiat coop when i was std (220hp) and i was surprised on how slow the leon is.

 

The new one is 240hp and takes 6.5secs.

 

crap cars imo and you should pull with ease

well on my way home i had one behind me and i was pulling away easy enough even with a sec gap inbetween gears, when oil is done, so with quick shifting there's no race.

I think the biggest single factor that everyone is forgetting is the drivers ;)

 

A huge amount of the outcome is to do with how good a driver is! If you're not a particularly 'brave' person then a nutter is gonna smash you to pieces. :smash:

 

In a straight line its a different ball game to encountering bends and corners also - how late are the drivers willing to wait before braking - how far thru the corner before the drivers feel comfortable to give it the beans - how willing are the drivers to absolutely thrash their cars at the top end of the rev range etc etc.......

 

Which of you is the better driver? Your car may well be faster on paper but in my eyes it comes down to a lot more than that.
