tesco's was back to basic's or tesco value i think

i remember the pack more the name:rofl:

kwik save still about?

Kwik save was Bought out 3 years ago by Somerfield.

Kwik Save was dreadful. Somerfield is marginally better. They do a cracking Chicken Ceasar wrap that I like.

Something I miss. Sainsburys used to have their own range of Pot Noodle. Now I hate Pot Noodle as they either have peas or sweatcorn in them, both of which make me wretch, but Sainsburys did this lovely ham and cheese pot noodle. They've gone. :(

Some of the cheap stuff is actually better, in some cases, than the more expensive food. Tesco for instance do/did an absolutely fantastic 'Value' Cannelloni. All others I've eaten, and I HATE electric/pre-made meals in general are sloppy and 'orrible. But these are nice! Not been into a Tesco for ages, so can't remember if they still do these or not? Anyone?

I think No-Frills was an indepentant brand that was quite strong in the marketplace before stores started introducing their own 'value' brands and Asda/Aldi/Lidl became as popular as they did. Must have been about 10 years ago now.

I can't seem to find anything on the net about them, but from memory, their logo was something like this crap little doodle I did, wasn't it? --->

Yeah you are correct. It was a Kwik Save brand. Just read up about it. My parents never used to shop there, so I guess I wouldn't be any the wiser. I just remember the brand.

Dont Tesco still use the Value range ?

...and Asda/Aldi/Lidl became as popular as they did.

Your surely not lumping Asda in with Aldi and Lidl there are you !?

i 'm not sure if they are still using the value brand to be honest  ? it's a long time since i've been in a tesco's store

Somerfield and asda are local one's, but dont get me started on asda food:rofl:

I actually shop in Asda from time to time and don't mind it. Won't buy any fresh meat products from there. Would rather buy butcher or Waitrose meat. But will buy branded products such as Heinz beans and that sort of thing.

One thing about Asda, it always attracts some real horrors! Some real butt-ugly people in there.

lol , i'm the same to be honest some of there stuff i like some i dont

cant stand there own smart price brand sausage rolls though or fish :x:

I won't even touch that. I don't think I've ever had any of their own branded stuff....oh yeah, I did once. Plum peeled tomato. They 'should' come in an almost puree sauce, but out flowed this thin runny red water. NEVER AGAIN!

Almost. Wouldn't put it in the same league as Sainsbury or even Tesco....?

I would put it in exactly the same league as Tesco and Sainsburys.

The big 3 stores - Tesco, Sainsurys, Asda

Next tier down - Somerfields, Morrisons, Co-op , Iceland (Big Brand stores, but tend to be smaller with more limited supplies)

Lowest - Aldi, Lidl ..etc (foreign produce, lack of big brands, very cheap)

i dont mind some of Iceland's stuff either :)

Somerset Dave? LOL

I wouldn't put it in the middle-league....? Even Aldi and Lidl sell branded product now.

Aldi and Lidl are foreign imported food i believe? and correct me if im wrong but they have better food hygiene/packing standards than the uk? and also the ham is nice in lidl:D

I don't think I've ever been to Iceland....dunno why.

i'm sure i'm right in saying this but have heard iceland bought out a fair few of the somerfield stores also?

my local one is still named as somerfield but think it's gonna change to co-op shortly as we already got a local iceland

Why dont Kwik Save sell condoms

Because they only sell no frills

don't worry I will get my coat on the way out
