hi bud IIRC you got an auto gearbox which means you should be ok as the drive disengages almost instantly when belts snap and you can often aviod valves getting bent....i've done a cambelt change give me a buzz and i'll try and pop over to assess the damage/help

cheers

well i have managed to get the covers off now. But the belt seems intact(as far as i can tell)but i cant spin engine over to see if it is turning as 6 hours with hazard lights flashing last night has killed the battery!!

the bloke from the AA(the first 1 that came) looked in through oil filler when i spun it over and he told mr belt had gone.

now im not so sure

Turn the crank with a spanner or socket set, if the top half moves as well its still connected, if its stripped the teeth or broken at the bottom it can still look ok from above.

well had a look and guess what??

haven't got socket or spanner big enough to fit crank nut!!!

its enough to drive you mad! :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

DO NOT spin it over on a battery. if theres a valve stuck down if the belt has gone, theres a high probability it WILL bend a valve if not already done so. always check it by hand, IE socket/spanner, then theres no risk involved.
