TBH I dont have a lot of experience with fibre finishes but what about a mop over with G3?????

Then seal it with a good polish

Wouldnt you have to 1200-1500 wet and dry the lot first to get a nice flat surface? then a cutting compound, then polish compound?

so the general idea would be to cut into it with a compound then seal with wax:)..thanks guys

sounds good to me, and as above i've always found the (3m fast-cut compound) work a treat and seems to work well if applied with a towel effect cloth:D

Maybe. Its hard to know unless you are looking at the item. Even photos dont help.

If the gel coat isnt scratched then I would try with G3 paste(not liquid) and a medium firm foam mop and see wot appens. If it is scratched after a good compound then wet flatting will be needed.

Bri, if this is NZR, why post it up in '300ZX Help and Advice'? LOL

PS, answer your PMs!! ;)

knowing myself I would end up going through the gel and making a hole :D

The fix is 2000 grade wet flatting, then mop with G3 very wet to stop burnishing, Then apply meguires marine wax and buff.

Its a hell of a job, I have just finished a gell coat repair on a friends Ski

Nautique.

Be careful if your boat is striped as the gelcoat colours are on top of each other and thay can be very thin in places.
