Would I be better off getting my TT manual box recondition? (can some one give me a price to do it myself or get someone else to do it). Or would I be better off using the NA manual gearbox? (how much power will it be able to take)

To recon a TT box your likely to be looking in the region of £900-£1100. The parts are very expensive and many parts can not be purchased seperatly.

NA box is fine, same internals, but you would have to shave off the inside of part of the bellhousing and space out the starter motor.

Would it be able to handle the power from the tt engine. what about clutch would I be able to use a tt one.

would it b worth selling the TT box, crunches at v. high rev gear changes

Same internals at TT box, yes, the only difference in the bellhousing which is thicker on the NA, as Nissan made the TT bellhousing thinner so they could fit in the TT clutch & Flywheel, and thats what you will need to do as well.

chuffing bananas... a grand to recon the box? :hurl:

my crunching box can crunch all it likes for that amount of money!

you could get a whole car for that!! wait I did and for £300 less:hyper:

would recon the tubs though and hopefully take it up to 18psi;) (i know I will have to change the injectors and inter coolers)

I have had two or three cars that crunch into gear when going fast, inc an R33 GTR, Clio 172.

Redline HEAVY SHOCK oil can, and did, fix it.

Not as good as a recon box but at about £40.00 a lot cheaper. Worth a try.

was gonna try it, just didn't get round to it. Now it's in a non-runner

Why not??

they're beyond their efficiency, so will actually lose power compared to running at, say, 14psi... they end up producing too much heat and reducing the air density.

18psi is about their limit...they will still make more power at 18psi, over..16psi, but any higher and they are out of their efficiency range and will heat the air too much.

They have been proven to make more power at 18psi.....but thats people doing dyno runs and then probably never actually using 18psi ever again. I personally would'nt run them at above 16psi for any amount of time, they wont last very long at all otherwise.

Check you have the correct oil in the box.

plus i have had in the past the little 5th gear interlocker cause crunching in 5th .

its the little plate on the side top of the gearbox near to the output shaft for the gear selector.

just remove it and check its not sticky in any way.

daz.

I used a good NA box on my Blue TT. I swapped the bell housings over from TT box as the mail bearing was noisy. My blue car was producing about 500 bhp and no problems and several thousand miles done befor I so;d it.

Danny who bought my car has just had it dino'd at 409 RWBHP and its still on it's running in chip.
