Hi chaps,

Ive had an intermittent fault with my drivers side window button not working so i took the unit off the car, cleaned all the contacts, etc up, put it back in the car and now the button controlling the passenger window doesnt work either!! I didnt even fix the first problem then this happens! Even the button in the passenger door doesnt work the window now  Ive checked the fuse but its fine as its the same fuse that powers the seats. I thought it could be a faulty drivers door window switch unit as a whole but would this cause the passenger door to stop working too? its very strange.

I await any kind of help with this one as i want to sell the car as the end of the month with as little faults as possible!

Cheers,

Adam

power window amplifier.....its in the drivers door under the card...call paul at swz...he'll have a second hand one

lack of passenger window power is probably caused by you turning the power window switch off when playing around with the drivers door switches....try pressing the button on the drivers door controls first.....its a classic problem :D

Is it easy to change the amp out? Or is it a whole door card coming off jobbie? the switches themselves were easy enough

door card off jobbie, probable a dry solder. You can open them up it you are careful and then put a bit of tape over to seal it back up

yep its door card off job...they are a solid black box, fag packet size, mounted inside the door with a cable connection coming out...didnt bother soldering mine got a 2nd hand one off a breaker

Ok cool. Thanks a lot for the info - one more thing - when taking the door card off is there anything i should be worried about falling out of alignment, etc? My flatmate took the door card off his Beemer and its never gone back on properly!

if you havent done one then do a search first....or call a member who has....you need to have the window open pull off the circular cover there is a screw under it that must be removed.....also sealbelt off too if its a series one zed

Ive got a series 3 so thats one issue gone - Looks like i'll wait till i have the patience. Im good friends with the previous owner who's had the card off before so hopefully it should be done in time to sell her. Expect a for sale thread on this forum soon!

Cheers again Uno you gem
