There is some info in the faq section re: wiring from auto to manual as well as the conversion

I used this guide for mine, it is still tricky but possible. TBH after I did it I needed to change my loom from the fuse box and got one from a manual, I wish I had done this in the first place as it was quicker and was just plug and play. The old loom came out easy and the new one wasn't that hard and you do have it on your manual car, much neater.

Also see which engine loom is better as again the manual has less on it so woud be worth swapping while the engine is out as it is much easier. If you want to lose the aircon do at the same time.

Also consider some of these removals to tidy things up, all done on mine so have about a 1/4 of the vac lines and wire in the engine bay I used to. Any questions let me know or pop down to Cardiff to see these on my Z and I'll show you as your not far.

hmm, looks a little bit complicated,

possible as you say tho. i did do the same sort of thing on my S13 a couple years ago.

so you think its easier to remove the loom do you? rarther than cut and splice everything from the auto to manual....

how easy/hard is removing the loom? from the ECU in the footwell into the bay i asume (to the coilpacks) and then off to the fusebox isit?

The ecu / engine loom is interchangeable so do not worry about that, however when undertaking an auto to manual conversion it is just the alternator loom which is different, it is easy to use the auto one and basically requires no more than linking the autobox inhibitor switch and adding an extra cable pair for the reversing lights.

TBH i read through the whole thing and looks as itf its a bit of a bodge job......

you have to put your foot on the clutch to start it... he didnt bother with the neutral switch.... hmmmmm....

ive just read that guide...

http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=916979

so theres only 2 things that need doing,

1) the wires for the reverse light

2) the starter bypass (in the wheel arch

as you dont need reverse lights for MOT, and my last Z's light didnt work, il just miss this out (asume will not effect nothing else)

the starter bypass looks easy, but why go to all the fuss of running it into the car footwell? and wiring to a clutch pedal?

why not just do a switch in the arch, and leave it on all the time? that better surely?

ok about to do this

relayconnector.JPG

it says connect the black/yellow wire to the black/wire.

do i leave the big grey connector disconected like in the pic?

im a bit confused, do i just cut one of the wires in half and splice into the other one?

what about the other end that is cut, just leave it ?
