I did a spot of racing the other night. Private road etc. And there was a skyline R32 GTR, running 1.4 bar, thats all i know. And what looked like road legal slicks. Now i know the 4 wheel drive makes a massive difference when launching but skylines just seem untouchable in drag races. I raced a scooby and managed to claw the lead back after the poor start. But the skyline, nah. Im sick of being beat by skylines. Any bright ideas? Apart from buy a skyline. A am awaiting a remap but that'll probly make the launch situation worse.

cheers

friday night at trafford by any chance...... crispy creme night? we talking about the silver 32? thats over 500hp, was it eccles or erlam on friday i didnt go down...

Stick a banana in his exhuast next time! That'll do the trick! LOL

They are mighty beasts in straight lines and round corners too but not half as sexy as a Zed to look at!

This is why I fitted racelogic traction control with launch.

Should even out the playing field once I get it setup correctly.

It is indeed that place. And yeah it is a seriously modified skyline. I have considered traction control but surely that just takes power away so ill be no better off. I agree that the Z is by far the nicer car, and the only skylines i would have are the R34 Nur or obviously the R35 GTR. But just wondered if there were any miracle answers. Good racing there though, ill be sown every week that its dry me thinks.

cheers

are you in a Z? ill have a look for you next week - ill be in an astra van or a yaris or an mx5 lol! my cars off the road till the bodywork is rust free - the skyline is owned by the guy who started the "jap drag night" in eccles / erlam - the guy in the r34 got destroyed by him few weeks ago so he swore he'd be back in the summer with more power lol!! gotta be careful though as the police are out in force with speed guns and mobile cameras on darkened corners around kellogs - originally it was thought the police were in on it as they were parked up watching the drag strip in the early days but they are massively against it now, altho what the police can do about 400 heavily modified cars blocking off most of trafford i don't know lol!!!

actually i seem to remember that massive lexus LS 4.0 v8 had a damn good crack at that skyline (altho it had nos i seem to remember)

(its like 5 square miles of industrial estate before ppl start moaning!!)

Traction control will give you the maximum amount of grip available from your tyres at all time. Racelogic TC is adjustable and far better than factory fitted TC systems.

But your talking about racing a car with a lot more power than yours, thats the problem.

Did you ever get the car tuned on the rolling road?. Could be why your down on power.

Sorry my bad, must have missed it :mac1:

Not had it mapped yet, i know ive got 400bhp at the fly and i know the skyline is much more powerful. But when he turned his boost down and we did a rolling start race we were neck and neck. But then when we did a proper launch he just fooks off. Felt like i was driving on ice. I can launch better on the roads, think the tarmac on industrial estates must be slipery. Might not be there this week but ill be there the next time its dry.

You have coilovers ? soften the bound/rebound on the back...will allow more weight transfer to the rear on launch for more grip.

Most of his initial grip launch is his fancy 4wd, but his road legal slicks would of helped a lot too

i wouldnt worry yorself the guys got a zonda too apparently he'll just throw more money at it!! theres no skill in that!

dont want to sound like a kill joy, but be very careful in posting up vids of street racing guys!

good point i wont put anything un-toward up, ill just post photo's no vids, the vids are on my facebook with num plates avoided

R32's are light and with a good tune they are rapid

300zx may have a fair bit of power but its still heavy and doesnt have the traction

I realised this since driving my 250hp mr2 turbo, 2nd and 3rd its easy as quick as my old 400hp z

That was me at pod, and theres a lot more grip there. I did a 12.9 in the end. Running slightly more boost now than i was then ,but stilll awaiting a remap. Dont have coilovers, have koni shocks and eibach springs all round. Starting to accept the fact that ill never catch 4wd's in a Z. Not unless i went mad with drap setup, and thats not the way i wana role. It wud be good to get a few Z's down to the racing though. Bit of fair competition. No one else with Rwd would race me. Tarts.lol.
