It's that time of year again when thinking about an LPG conversion.

I have a Jap TT 300ZX Auto. It's reasonable on fuel for what it is. However, wondering if someone has taken the plunge and done an LPG conversion?

I would insist the fuel tank be made to fit where the spare wheel goes so as to appear as normal as poss though.

it'll be expensive!, as its a turbo you'll need a vaporisor thingy that can match the boost pressure when pushing gas into the system! It'll need a jet in every cylinder + its own ecu etc etc ! I did look into it a bit and there are some 3l bi-turbo alfa's with gas conversions

don't know of anyone, maybe a N/A ?

someone with a 200SX has done it - but that's 4 pot vs 6 pot.

The number of cylinders wont make any odds, The turbo boost will cause the pronblems and put up the cost as you will need a mpi kit. My ski boat is 100% lpg no petrol needed to start. That is a N/A 351 c/inch (5.8lt) Ford based V8, so it has a Impco vaporiser and a gas carb.

Hmmmm - how many years of motoring to recover the installation costs I wonder??

On my boat payed for it self in 3 years, but Im only paying 34p a litre as there is no road tax on marine gas, and vat is 5%. WOT is 15lts an hour @310hp

15 lts an hour at WOT:shock:... my 200 XR2 merc does 20 gallons an hour at WOT:cry:..ile have to get me an inboard

The burnt out valves and seats is a myth, as long as the engine has hardened valve seats, which all cars after I think 1985 have, there will be no problem. It is true the burn tempeture is higher, the value is 105ron. The waterski world has been running the engines on lpg in the boats for well over 30 years and no real problems that I have heared.

ive stripped a motor (industrial) that run gas for all its ten year life and the piston crowns and heads were as clean as the day it was put together..a far more engine friendly fuel imho

been fitting lpg to many vehicles and never seen a problem other than certain jap cars have soft valve seats ,just fit a flashlube kit ..problem sorted

i have been running LPG for 10 years (not on a Z ), never had an engine problem, and as said all stays clean as a pin, as lee said, fitting flashlube is a good idea.

What sort of price would i be looking at roughly on a lpg conversion for a chevy small block 383 6.3 stroker?

Sorry ment Gallons, DUH!!! 15gallon @WOT.

All cars? The Capri 2.8i Cologne engine was made up til end of 1986 and did not have the hard exhaust valve seats. Don't know how this applies to Jap stuff though?

Good idea in principle but I have looked into this for the Z in the past and found it not to be feasible. If you can find anyone that can fit one into a Z then good luck. I dont think there is enough space to fit a kit into a Z given what is required but you never know! I dont know of anyone that has done a LPG conversion on a Z. The price will be steep too probabaly £2k to 3K for a professional job using the best equipment Prins - brand, remember if you cut corners and go cheap you will most likely get problems. I have had a good look at the parts used in different kits and the difference is big.

Hope this helps.
