Hit another problem with the new shell...

Swapped over the window switches from the Series 1 to the Series 2 along with the window actuator and the plugs matched so I assumed all would be good (windows were working in old shell) but there's a spare plug in the door - see pic - and the windows don't work. It got too late to get the multimeter out, but is there an extra component in the Series 2 door??

To complicate things, there is some 'extra' wiring which i assume is from a total closure alarm which I'll have to remove and put back as was, but can't see how it could affect anything as it's disconnected...

so - can anyone identify what this plug goes to - it's at the bottom-rear of the driver's door...

Thanks in advance!

Rich

Well... looks like it might not be such a silly question... on the original car, half of the attached picture is just hanging in the door - so I'm guessing it's been bypassed or something?? The amplifier itself is attached though.

Wht is the picture of - it's listed as the amplifier, but clearly not!

ok - i'm getting confused by all the different posts I'm finding... The window regulator is the black box with a single white plug which connects into it...is that correct? This is connected and known to be working... so is the picture in the above post the amplifier? How could the window on my old car work when this was broken?

Here's a pic of the amplifier. Looks different to the one in your post. Also, the connector that plugs into the amplifier is 8-pin, not 4.
