My clutch has started slipping at the top end of 4th and 5th, Im looking at the rps clutch as a kit but need to get some pennys for it,

as a bit of a quick fix can i replace just the plate, as the cover and bearing are good as gold.

If by using the oem plate and bearing, but only upgrading the pressure plate to say a different manuf, will this work????

Advice please

Stu

Just fitting a new friction disc will probably fix it for a while. Long enough to save up for an RPS kit.. Not an ideal situation but I here what you are saying re costs.

When it comes to doing a "proper job" when funds allow. I would buy a fully matched kit from one source not go looking to mix n match.

Thats IMO of course.

No doubt someone else will disagree:)

nah not really, would be worth getting a lightened flywheel while you are at it, i bought a second hand one for £80 ad got it skimmed and balanced as it was worn slighlty

I bought an Exedy Street clutch and ligtened flywheel from the States for about £300 all in, plus duty of £28. Its light on the pedal, the engine revs well and I will let you know how long it lasts. Currently after 6 months and apart from some smells when when giving it some stick, no problems after 6 months of hard driving. before that I had a RPS Street clutch and it was heavy but did not slip.

Extra info.

I had an RPS clutch but it snapped, yes snapped.

I went for a southbend this time with a lightened RPS segmented flywheel.

Bloody hell, theres a name from the past!!!!

Stu, deffo go for the RPS mate! any but twin plate carbon exedys are like chewing gum and wont last long, i had an exedy when it went pop in lemans and silverbullet has just blown his exedy up as well.

But in answer to your question, a new friction plate should work fine as long as your happy with the condition of the rest of the clutch
