Wasn't just a puncture, the whole carcase of the tyre delaminated.

The tyre was only a month old! LOL. Luckily, I nursed the car over to the hard shoulder. This could have caused me a nasty accident! So I've thanked my cotton socks!

I'd dread to think what would have happened if I'd been in the Z!

WOW - serious sh1t!!!

You did well to control it mate and get over to the side!

My dad had a blow out at 80mph back in the good old days and he said that was pretty scary - never had the pleasure myself tho - thank feck lol.

Jesus Si, thats a front i guess, lucky it didnt roll you, if its only a month old, i would say manuf fault, or tyre fitters have filled with to much air.

If it was the zed, this might have been a differnt thread. Glad your ok.

What speed were doing?????

I've had a blow out just like than in a zed at over 80mph.....it scared the life out of me as I thought I was about to bite the bullet....but actually managed to quite easily slow the car and pull over without any drama's or loss of control. Remarkably stable in such a situation.

...just remembered , twice in a Zed....although I was only passenger in the other one. I remember with that one there was a big bang then lots of vibration with the dash trying to rattle itsself free, thought it was a drivetrain issue till we pulled over and saw the lack of tyre.

Same happened to me in my Z - rear near side at 80mph. And my car also remained stable, once the initial shock had passed I safely steered off the carriageway unscathed. Unfortunately I dented the rim as I caught a cats-eye on the way....

I'm glad you're OK Si.....and very pleased it wasn't in your Z;)

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Erm, can't remember, I think it deflated very quickly and I noticed a very lumpy feeling so just eased off the accelerator. Brought the speed down gently and pulled into the hard shoulder. I'd imagine I was doing about 70 - 80. Tend not to go any faster than that.

First time I've ever changed a spare wheel on the hard shoulder before. Did it in under 5 minutes. The Seat tool kit is pretty good. Shame I had to empty the entire contents of my boot out onto the motorway before I could even get at the bits I needed! LOL

Could of been alot worse - glad it wasn't :)

Hi Si glad you're ok

Just like everyone above I've found the Zed to be very stable in that situation. Going round the bend on the M4 just past Bridgewater at about 100 the nearside allow failed and split for about 6 inches inside where the tyre is. I heard the deflation and then the vibration started as a rumble. Just eased off signalling left and everyone held back and let me get to the hard shoulder.

Called the RAC cos I couldn't get the JAck under the front and he put the spare on and had to continue to Swansea and all the way back to Aylesbury at 50 mph Felt like a moving target for trucks on the M4 coming back and I don't think the zed had ever been driven so slowly ! Still lucky day !

No Si's had his..... Join the club !

Glad your ok mate. I had a front wheel blow out on my old 4stroke 50cc CB50 doing 35mph down a hill, that was fun! :hurl:
