I have a HDMI pout put on my laptop.... i have aquired a few recent films :rolleyes:

 

I connected my laptop to the TV via a HDMI cable thepicture was great but got no sound.... is there a way to get sound via the HDMI cable so i can view my collection on the big TV??

because you are only using the video card to send the signal. The video card needs a digital connection from the sound card to the graphics card so it can send both audio and video down the hdmi cable. As you have a laptop you can't have sound with your hdmi cable.

Hi Neil,

 

Yes you can have sound and vision through your hdmi!!

 

In the control panel if you select the sound icon and you should then see 2 or 3 different speaker options, one being hdmi, right click this to make it the default speaker and click ok then try your film again and you should get sound on your tv :)

 

Its a pain to keep changing, on mine it only auto changes when you use the default built in media viewer but this on mine will only play dvds from the drive and not stuff i have on my hard drive!!!
