Installed a couple of boost jets at the weekend now that I have my RPS Max clutch and boost gauge fitted and bloody hell does it fly!

I thought it was a quick car before, but now...

Started off with a couple of 1mm - got 20psi! Very gently brought her back home and tried a 1mm and a 1.2mm. Still 17, with an initial spike to 18. Not good.

However, running 2 x 1.2mm's now and getting a nice steady 14 with a spike for a fraction of a second to 15. Can't hear any det, running as smooth as silk!

Yikes! Going from stock to 14psi was change enough - almost doubling your boost must have felt insane!!

It was bad conditions too - i seriously nearly killed me and the fitter

TBH even safety boost aint slow - so going upto 13psi really did feel insane! :D :D :D

Just hopped back to JWT chipped management so from a smooth 6psi to 13psi i too forgot how quick the Zed was! (Used to have Mines ECU until it fried!)

Only Blasted twice with it in cant wait for the rollers at the weekend!

Think Ill tax the beast at the begining of March and give it a blast fed up driving the stand in:D

upping the boost to 14psi gives you about another 60-80 bhp ime led to believe:D

At LEAST by the feel of it! Had 323bhp at the rears last time I had it on a dyno - can't wait till I can get it on again and find out what difference it's actually made!

What mods do you have?

Hehe I know what you mean, it surprised me too! But that's the figure that came out! :D

As far as I know, all I have is and Apexi cone, some form of SS exhaust and an unknown chip, performance-wise. I was expecting it to be closer to that figure at the flywheel, but they said it was showing RWHP!

Maybe I have a few more bits that I'm not aware of, or maybe they were just lying to make me feel good :p

323 at the wheels is around 90-100 higher than stock. Achievable with stock tubs and 14-15psi on a good engine, although higher than average.

its a cool feeling aint it mate. how are you reading your boost tho - as 1mm jets should only give you about 14.5psi (1.2mm= approx 12psi, 0.8mm=approx.16psi)

Just one problem you will soon get use to it and want more :D

aint that the truth! i wish someone would tell me when to stop! :D

stop!!! ;)

would standard turbos make 20psi?

Yes, they will spin up to whatever boost you let them, but they are out of their efficiency range above about 18psi (with aftermarket intercoolers) and wont last very long at all.

I've got an Option gauge plumbed into the balance bar. Before I fitted the jets, it was reading about 9.5psi, so allowing for it to be out a fraction as they always are, I took that to be my stock 9psi.

After the two 1.2mm's went in, I get an initial spike to 15 (maybe just over) and then it evens out at or just over 14.

I'm surprised too that I'm getting such a high pressure on relatively large jets - that's why I started with 1mm's. As I said previously though, 1mm's gave me 20psi and caused my det sensor to kick in (I assume - felt like when my MAF went dodgy!) so I brought it home and changed them out sharpish!

They must have been talking rubbish then! I thought 300 to 320 was stock at the flywheel though - do you really lose 90 to 100 through the drivetrain?!

Still, I'm happy either way cos even if it was 323 at the fly before, she's gotta be pushing 400 now! :hyper:

Stock output is 280-300 at the flywheel (depending on which figure you believe).

Stock Wheel output is approx 230-240 hp

stock boost is 9.5 mate so your gauge is spot on! i wonder if your wastegates are slow to respond or aren't opening properly.

Nah, it's just that everything else in my engine is so good that it needs less restriction to get to 15psi ;)

Seriously though, do you reckon everything will be OK? Everything seems to be fine - no nasty spikes, no det (can't hear anything anyway!) and dump valves working nicely.

One thing that may make difference is that my jets are somewhat custom... I could only find 0.8mm's, so I bought a nice little pin drill set from Maplins (they go from 2mm all the way down to 0.3mm - about twice as thick as a hair by the looks of it!). I bored the 0.8's out to 1mm for a start, then ended up at 1.2mm
