Well after just under a year it looks like its all over for bay flooring

All was going great guns and expanded in october so it employs 4 people now but then our main contract stopped giving out any work in november which pi55es me off as they asked us to expand  we have stuggled on since then but the last 6 weeks or so have been terrible and we just are not bringing in enough business to keep it going :(

So looks like i will be looking for a job in the next few weeks unless anyone wants any amtico, karndean, carpets or commercial work doing LOL

Sorry for the doom and gloom.

its annoying because the work is there but people are just holding off on it and the banks are not interested in helping us out in the short term because they class us as a construction company??

what a pissr mate, my friend was struggling as a self employed fitter, but he jost got the contract for the local hospital, its a 5 year reoccuring conctract, he has been lucky, hope you get a job soon mate

I was watching Auf Weidesehen Pet last night, and I was thinking I wonder how long it will be before skilled englishmen have to seek employment abroad again.

Hard times :( Sorry to hear that ..... Hope it sorts itself out :( Fingers crossed!

sorry to hear mike..but its no good injecting money into men and vans if you cant see a return atm.its hard to lay off but times like these its self presevation mate and try not to spend in a day more than you earn in a day;)..maybe a sole trader short term might be the answer bud

sorry to hear that mate. on a positive note you have a trade to hand where you can use in your own time as and when you get jobs.

goodluck.

Chin up mate, my window business went tits up when the new build construction industry started to struggle. I've been doing bits and bobs just to survive for 6 months now but I've had to shut it all down, leaving me with some nasty debts.

The 'silver lining' to this story is that I'm starting what could quite possibly become my dream job on Monday (top level car valeting/detailing) - so you never know what the future might bring. Sh1t happens, but you'll look back and laugh one day.

HTH :)

Sorry to hear that Mike and just when you put a great big mortgage around your neck:( Hope you get a new job very soon.

gutted for you mike, its very worring times and were told its going to get worse

It's a sad time at the moment.

In terms of small businesses, It's not so much survival of the fitest, it's more like survival or the richest.

I was watching Auf Weidesehen Pet last night, and I was thinking I wonder how long it will be before skilled englishmen have to seek employment abroad again.

Won't help much. Everywhere across Europe is the in the same condition, and what with the exchange rate on the £ as it is at the moment, it is less of an attractive proposition as it used to be (I have effectively taken a 40% pay cut over the last 3 years).

Also to be honest with the recent round of Euro borders opening up, there are plenty of skilled workers who are willing to work for less.

Sad but true.

sorry to hear this, can you not scale back and just do it yourself with maybe a helper

gutted for you mIke ....i needed a carpet for my other sitting room as well , was going to sort one out when home next time in 4 weeks , hang in there mate , scale down and keep the little jobs going .....
