Hi all, apologies first if this is in the wrong section.

Looking finally towards buying a Zed (something I've been putting off for a couple of years due to finances) and I've spotted what look like some good ones at a dealers in High Wycombe on Autotrader. There's a white TT LWB which looks like it's got a club sticker in the drivers side rear quarter window.

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_popup.jsp?did=28997&pageid=3&originalid=&gid=nogroup&tid=46&start=5&distance=0&adcategory=cars&channel=DEALERPAGE&id=200905328084227

is the one in question. Anyone know any of this cars history, or the other 2 TT's for sale by the trader? I'm planning on seeing them when I get some time off work, but thought that any info anyone else had on them would help.

Thanks in advance.

Out of interest - the red one on that site is the same car I bought from the bloke back in Summer 2006...

I then sold it on to a chap called "kev" from Sevenoaks, who still had it when I spoke to him mid-way through last year. Is/was a forum member but never a regular poster, IIRC.

Also, those are the same pictures of the car that I bought it from over 2 years ago!! So some caution required here.

As for the dealer - seemed an OK bloke to me, but very inflexible on the price, no matter how hard I tried. The car was pretty much as he described it, and I didn't have any trouble with it. He did promise to put a new rear wiper on it for me (whooooo!) but didn't. Overall, I'd rate him 2.5/5 as a seller, but the car was good-un on the whole.

If you're gonna buy one from him - make sure you take him to task and stick to you guns over any improvements you agree.

First of all, though, check it is the car that's in the photos!!

Not sure how much help this is - LOL.

BTW - fully documented Nissan Service History is a lie - there was quite a bit from Nissan and a lot of bills, but fully documented, it ain't.

JB.

Ta for the heads-up on that one JB, as it's probably the second choice one I'd go for after the white one - all depends on their current condition of course.

Just as an aside, my current Z is also coming up for sale very shortly - just having it mapped currently - full advert to follow shortly.

But, just in case you're interested (if you're looking for standard, you won't be), it's a red 1990 J-Spec Manual, 60k miles, full professional engine re-build upgrade a few years ago, done less than 2k since then; forged pistons, 555's, hybrid turbos, uprated clutch etc, etc... Not to mention AP racing brakes, Antera alloys etc... Currently running 457bhp (at the fly) at 1.2 bar.

She's a beauty - subtle body mods, 99 rear lights etc.

I'm not putting up a proper ad until the mapping/ECU swap's been completed, just thought you might like a heads-up ;-) (and anyone else for that matter).

Apologies for hijack!!

CheerZ,

JB.

not sure on the white car but when i was looking for a zed i had a look at the black manual and he took me for a test drive. the engine was tapety and the wheels dont suite the car. also the targas leak very badly and the interior needs a valet. it also has dump valves and i didnt hear them once on the test drive even though he really gave it the beans.

Cheers Yassa, wasn't too keen on the black one to begin with purely from the photos. Did you actually get chance to drive the car yourself, or did the seller do all the driving?

no m8 the seller done all the driving, i did not ask to drive as was not really interested,

took my son to look at a GT4 a couple of years ago, it was advertised as imaculate by matey at Crest cars, as soon as he opened his gate you could see what a pile of crap it was.I dont want to put you off, but have a really good close look at the zed mate.

I've dealt with this bloke and he's a complete :xxx: The car was parked next to wall and on an incline so, I couldn't get round it for a look. He tried to cover up a massive hole in the boot with his hand. He won't let you drive it. Full Service history stopped in 2004. The years tax ran out in two months and he had to drive to a local garage to "pick up" the MOT cert that was done a month before! He didn't bother washing the car and it was minging! And he met me in a local b&q car park driving the car, so I didn't get to start it from cold.

This bloke made me think that all zeds were heaps and he nearly put me off them! Be careful with this bloke mate.

Some good advice from a previous owner..........

..........plus it also proves that the dealer's claim of "last owner (for) 12 years" is crap!!

I may wander down over the weekend just for a peek as I only live 5 miles from High Wycombe;)

Cheers for all the feedback, I'm glad I asked here first. Not sure if I'm going to look at these now, I'm certainly going to be taking a mechanically-minded mate along for backup if I do.

If you want someone with some Z-experience to meet you there, I can make myself available sometime Saturday morning. As said above, I'm only a few miles from High Wycombe.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm stuck at work this weekend on 12 hour shifts. Next saturday (21st) a possibility?

Buy one from an owner not from a dealer, with a dealer you will always be paying a premium. IMHO

Although I bought mine from an owner on this site and it blew up 150 miles later! :xxx:

Yup; can do mate.

Post on here nearer the weekend as necessary.

Sorry to bump the thread just for a reply to Richard, but I can't seem to send PM's ^.^;

With regards to this weekend, no can do as I've had some family stuff come up that's just tied my weekend up, then I'm working for the following two. Thanks for the offer of assistance, if it's still okay with you I'll get in touch when I've got a weekend free to look at Zeds, but will probably be mid-march by then.

No problem mate!

Incidentally only subscribed members can PM.....

I reckon those Zs at Crest may be around for a bit with the market as it is!

Hi mate, just noticed you are from didcot. I'm in drayton, my mate has a

Z which he is thinking of selling (tt auto), i've known the car for the last

6 yrs, had new tubs about 2yrs ago, otherwise, it's been brilliant, still

limited to 112mph, never even stretched it's legs!

Here's a pic of it next to my old one....

Thanks bob, but I'm in the looking for a manual. I can appreciate that an auto is just as much fun to drive, but I prefer that little bit more control over the gears and when they change - 3 years of MR2 ownership have seen to that one, I wouldn't still be around if I'd had an auto methinks.

As for the cars at the Wycombe dealers, thanks to all for your advice. I saw them yesterday with a mate, and we walked away without even bothering with a test drive. Wasn't impressed with the condition, the "last owner for 12 years" story was still being told, despite knowing John-Boy's story of ownership, and he still had the gall to say "Oh yes, full service history"....and then show me a logbook that stopped at 2004. Upon asking for receipts of servicing since, I was told "It's got every MOT certificate". Not quite what I asked for ¬.¬

Also took a look at a manual n/a being advertised at a Showroom in Newbury, advertised as non-abused. Sure. I think the previous owner must have washed it with a brillo pad given the paintworks condition >.

So, no luck so far, I am still Zed-less for now :( The search continues.....

Must say.. the one sideshowbob has just shown you could be a good option. Ive never heard of a Zed being restricted for so long.:shock: Don't know how they managed lol....bong.......bong....bong:cry:
