Hi all, has anyone ever seen a skyline straight six in a 300ZX? Im toying with the idea and would like to know if its a futile idea... many thanks.

just prefer straight sixes to v sixes, only one head gasket and turbos can be changed with engine in situ

IMHO the vg30dett is a much better engine. not worth putting an rb26 in.

But if you build a good VG you shouldn't need to change the HG and turbos. Almost a false economy IMO.

its horses for courses, out the box the RB is a more reliable engine, and easier to work on, the VG has great torque and a lovely noise

I'd disagree about reliablity (any reliablity issues residing the 300zx are becuase of external causes - old Wiring, old water hoses..etc and not the engine itself)

and yep a VG with the same mods as a RB makes the same power but a lot torque

ive yet to hear about a skyline with any of the issues the 300 has, and the 32's are just as old as the Zeds.

I notice how you didnt comment on the easier to work on part

Yes, more room in engine bay would help with working on them.

Which issues ? The Skyline engine bay does'nt suffer with as much heat because of the extra room so wiring and pipeing lasts longer. Nothing to do with the actual engine.

As above, most issues with the Z are due to dodgy connections and poor wiring.
