Looking for component speakers....enough space in the door?

I fitted new speakers last year, but I want something more meaty. Looking at getting some Alpine component speakers.

Only question I have is, how much space is there behind the door? The depth of the speakers I am after is 59mm. Will the window clear this when wound down? I am NOT looking to build pods or anything. I want these to be hidden away nice and descretely.

Also, where do you guys hide their crossovers?

I have DLS UP6 component speakers fitted in my doors under the standard speaker grilles which are 63mm deep so should not be a problem.

I had Alpine 171 comonents in my first Z.

They fitted well, good sound quality.

Fitted 2 sets - one front, one rear.

Fronts were straightforward to fit, rears needed work.

Loads of plastics and bits came out the car to get them in.

Only place I could find for the tweeters was the surround for the rear side window.

While the plastics were out, I laid down sound deadening all over the rear floor area.

Not a quick job.

ive got phase 1 rockford fosgate 6x9s in my doors and they fit fine, look cool too. im thinking of building a small pod to angle them towards me to get better sound what you guys think? i know component speakers sound better than 6x9s but creadit crunch starting to sting a little :(

place round the corner from me called turners doin nice instal for me, full door builds with cdt component speakers powered buy an ipaul amp and two 12 inch morel subs in boot build also with ipaul amp all run off a pioneer p88 head unit, they doin me a nice little inlay in the boot aswell with 300zx on boot floor :) should be a dam fine sound system costin me around £4100 all in like but ya pay for quality.

Sounds like that fookin Mark Turner is copying my install design.....the bast*^d :slap:

Be careful when you go to pick it up. Makes sure he has installed the front door speakers properly.

Asked him to fit my first Focal speakers in my zed and he made a right pigs ear. I paid him to mount the speakers on MDF and didn't find out until I got my interior retrimmed that he didn't bother doing it. Went straight back for a refund and a flee in his fookin ear.

The lad who did my install used to work for Mark a few years ago.
