Just wanted to say that I don't like the appearance of the skylines and cannot understand why people drool over them. Yes the handle well and yes they have excellent performance, but God I think they look ugly compared to the Zed.

Am I alone paddling my own canoe on this one?

I dont dislike them, but I do agree that they are not at all attractive, the interior is very dire and they are very overhyped. The R34 is an improvement.

i agree compared to the zed (i do like the looks) it doesnt look as good but my GTR puts a smile on my face that the zed never did, i loved my zed but the GTR really is a good car to drive hitting 85mph in 2nd gear i still cant get used to:nana2:

It's the same with many Japanese GT cars. I think they were experimenting during the 80s and early 90s. IMO, the Supra isn't much better, especially with the most miserable of dashboards. The GTO has oddball appearance. Out of those 3 though, they Skyline is the nice one. Looks more exotic despite the very very bland interior. Great cars mechanically and they do have vivid appeal to them. They do have much better road presence than the Supra or GTO.

The only 2 Japanese GT cars that I've really liked the appearance of have been the Honda NSX and the Nissan 300zx. I also quite like the old Starion and MK2 Supra.

I think a lot of it is physcological, because they are such a good car, much like the evo people see them and say they look awesome wheras infact many people, not all, but many are actually refering to the car itself.

I do it myself, I saw an Evo FQ 400 the other day and commented how cool it was, afterwards I thought no, the car itself is brilliant but actually looks like a fridge/freezer.

Yes I agree. I went for the zed as its lines in my head equalled what I think is the classic shape for a sports car. Saying that my idea of other gorgeous sports cars are the XJS and the 928 so I might be on my own!

The Skyline is an immense and legendary vehicle and can look very mean but for me could never be described as sexy and sleek like a zed. They are awesomely fast though. There were two at brands which left me standing awesome fun I would imagine.

Ugliest Evo is by far the Evo 6. Seems to be people's favourite model for some reason, but if you look at it, it's a ******* cross between a Mitsubishi Carisma and a Proton GL with half a boat grafted on to it. I don't mind the 7, 8 and 9 and really like the new Evo 10.

I know this is a TMK, but the 5 and 6 are desperately ugly.

This is my point, yet many people will still say it "looks" good even though they are probably referring to its technology.

If that car was only availible as a 1.0 3 cylinder people would say it looked ****, which it does anyway lol

I love the look of the r34, but not keen on previous ones. Mind you they are far better looking than any scooby!

Seconded:tongue:

I respect the Skyline for what it is and what it can do but that's it. It looks nothing special and I've no desire to own one.

Richard:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I have to say that the Skyline R33 GTS25t is a much more fun and comfortable car to drive then the 300ZX TT. Although there are a few factors to take into consideration here. My Skyline is manual and the 300ZX is auto. That said I also have a Stagea that is auto and that is nicer to drive than the 300ZX. Looks wise as a standard car they both have draw backs but the 300 has much more presence and IMO is better looking. The skyline is a much more reliable car (from what I have heard and not experianced as both of mine are very good runners) Thats mainly the reason I have so many coz I cant bare to part with any of them YET! But its kind of like comparing and egg sandwich with a bacon sandwich. They are both very different cars. From the 3 cars I have the Stagea is IMO the best. It has everything comfort, performance, handling and good looks.

I love skylines. i would like to have a r33 GTr one day or an Evo 5 in yellow

Actually, the R32 GTR is by far the best looking car ever made imo, Especially all standard in black with orange indicators.

Its the wheel arches that i love, but i must say the interior is pathetic

I think the R33 is bland and the R34 looks to be ageing to me, its growing old really fast.

as mentioned, i respect all motors in this band - 'liners, evos, rex's, Zs, even poopras and subarus, purely for their power and/or drivability. what they LOOK like on the outside and inside, and the average type of person that owns it, well thats a different matter. IMO the Z is the best trade-off between exterior, interior, power and ($hite) handling.

the thing is i dont even compare skylines to the 300zx its nowhere near the same type of car, you compare the looks of the skyline to scoobies, evo's and IMO the skylines win on looks every time. thats why in the future i hope to have a 99 spec parked next to my GTR :)
