Just been looking a different thread involving an Austin all agro and it got me thinking, whats the worst car you had owned???

Mine has got to be a D reg red Seat Ibiza 1.5GLX (system porche) in my late teens whilst i was driving around Hanger lane on the A40 in London, drove past a stationery police car waiting at the lights and my passenger door opened for no apparent reason and smacked the front of the boys in blue. I stopped and they had a small chat with me, one bald tyre, faulty headlight and the copper tested it on the side of the road, and snapped the handbrake.

Gave me 3 points just for good measure.:mac1:

Fooking thing was worse than a skip, as they are worth money as scrap.

Who else has had what?

You were bloody lucky matey, i went for a job as crash investigator once and judging from those photos you were lucky not to lose a leg or die in the crash!

Hensen M30 kit car-Awful :(

Blimey. Never heard of those before, so googled it. Kind reminds me of a Lancia Beta and a Lancia Stratos.

What was the running gear? Usual common Pinto running gear or something a bit nicer like a Rover V8?

Citroen Xantia 1.8i Estate

Bought off eBay unseen for £601, worth every penny of £250, spent about £300 on making it work right, did about 20,000m and the head gasket went. Bodged it and flogged it for £120 on eBay. Overall, it still worked out cheaper than fuel and tyres for the Z !

Ford 3.0 V6 Essex engine. Pretty sure it was Cortina or Capri running gear Si.

Back in 1992 I bought a J-reg Ford Scorpio 2.0 twin cam.

It was only 6 months old and it was crap! It must have gone back to Ford at least once a week to have one problem or another rectified. I reckon that in the 2 or 3 months I owned it I probably only drove it for about a week!!!

That was without a doubt the worst car I ever owned - I swapped it for a new-ish Cavalier 2.0CDi in the end and I didn't miss the Scorpio one bit!

After that, I've never wanted to own another Ford. Except maybe the GT......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My worst car ever was an old Mini. Not long after passing my test I decided to put a 1300cc engine in it with high-lift cams which I got cheap from an old schoolmate who had stuffed his Mini into a wall.

Next day I drove it at 100mph on the way to work, but after leaving a dual carriageway found it no longer had any brakes, even the handbrake did nothing. Luckily I managed to fit between the kerb and a Nova as we went round a roundabout, then entered work's car park at about 50 and carried on going into the middle of a field. I left the Mini there until my employers forced me to have it towed away some 6 months later!

2l gti monteago estate....no rad fan so overheated on a regular basis and the wheel fell off as the gator had perished so the drive shaft fell out...classic british junk....wasnt all bad...went like stink you could really rev that baby....gaffer tape was the order of the day i think i had a piece on every panel....hahaha :D

1995 Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 CDX

I bought it from a ford main dealer for £5500 and in the first six months it went back about twenty times for repairs.

It had three new ECU's (well I was told they were new), cambelt broke and it needed a full engine re-build, anti roll bar snapped, tyres would not stay inflated as the alloys had started flaking.

In the end I paid the finance company to take to away I was that fed up with it.

Ended up buying a £200 Astra instead and loved it.

my cavi sri 8v 2.0 was the most reliable car i ever owned!! handled like it was on rails but the rot got to it in the end. i got fed up with getting underneath and welding the fooker up

R5 campus :o

although i have devolped a lothing for certain cars iv'e been forced to drive in work namely old beatles and minis, and perticulary i 106 that i cannot get in to becuase last time i did the smell made my physicaly sick

I had a Dutton Melos for a while. Me and one of my mates bought one as a bit of a project and never really got too far with it. Running on Mk2 escort running gear with a 1.3 x-flow engine mated to a 4 speed box, topped out at about 80mph and you could lean out slightly and touch the road whilst driving if you wanted. Had a couple of threaded wheel studs, poor brakes and my head stuck above the roll bar, it was still a bit fun none the less.

Yeah, I bought a 1994 Cavalier 2.0 SRI a couple of years later for £400 off ebay and that was a good car, gearbox was fantastic totally different car to the CDX cavalier.
