has anybody any views on these?

they are getting VERY cheap at the moment and i am on the verge of considering one.

currently got the Griff 500 so i know it would be a large step down on power, noise, looks and quirkyness but the advantages are reliability, could use as daily driver and...?

now i have started browsing, im rather torn!

My brother in law has got one, and by all accounts its a very nice car, nothing spectacular tbh!

I could'nt ever have one even if i wanted cos i'm 6'4 and the leg room is disgraceful!!! My knee is up against the centre console the whole time! But if you aint tall i'm sure you wont have that prob lol.

All in all a nice car and no doubt it goes :D But nothing to get worked up over. You'll get a fancy badge tho ;) :D

Friend of mine recently sold his and used it as a daily driver to commute to London twice a week. Whilst I am not the 911s biggest fan, the 996 model handles like nothing else I've been in. It felt more surefooted than the 360 modena. They feel noticeably quicker than a stock Z. Awful dash and cramped feel inside though. Not for me, but a very good car.

Surely it would be a step up in power?

Whats the griff 320bhp? When it was new lol

Even a base 996 is 300bhp from the 3.4, i admit they are a bit heavier but 0-60 suffers from 4.1 to 4.9 from what i can see.

Also 911 is the original supercar you can use!

And think of the fuel economy, ive read that a griff 500's combined is 14.4mpg where as a 3.6 996 will apparently manage 25.4... Lol think of the fuel saving.

Bear in mind if you find a turbo they are 420bhp+! :D 0-60 in 3.9!

911 turbo is a whole different animal. I do actually really like the 911 turbo. The wider rear track and bulging arches make a HUGE difference to the Beetle-esque looks of the lesser models. They look immense on the road. Still expensive and horrendous to insure.

the Griff has had a power upgrade, all internals replaced and the power is really rather impressive.

just worried i will find the porky a bit slow and boring.

maybe after all the snow on the road... slow = sensible!

One of the best cars ive ever driven was the latest 997 turbo. Just unbelievable in every respect, acceleration is brutal, brakes are insanely impressive, and it just grips and grips and grips.

In my opinion, they are the best usuable performance car on the market, bar none!

Ahh fair enough. Didnt know that :)

Come to the darkside mate, honestly German Performance is odd, you have to keep looking at the speedo to believe whats happening!

Whats mad as well, is that the gauges are accurate at 70mph on the m3, the gps says 70. Its bang on!

Best thing, is go to kendal to the porker dealer and have a look (or if there is anything closer near you perhaps??)
