i have 300tt manual, and just fitted new cerametallic clutch, light flywheel,de cat pipes, fuel preasure regulator, stage 3 chip, free airflow and manual boost controller...,,went on motorway,,,the highest boost is 1.6 bar thats more than twice from stock,,but know that not good for turbos,,i am using the car for drag racing and awaiting the season openning in santa pod on 18 january, but want to get it right,,so any advice on boost control whats the best bar to adjust and also the fuel preasure regulator...what must be the bars on running engine?

if youre running stock injectors or stock turbos, then something will go bang very quickly at that boost mate - thats 23psi!!! :( the generally agreed safe max boost on a relatively stock motor is 1 bar (14.5psi). i wouldnt run it until youve turned the boost down

ok,thanks for that,,also i have a nitrous thinkinng to put in.....can i add a boost in that case?then for how much?thanks

as dave has said. running that amount of boost on stock is asking for trouble in a very big way. stock turbos run out of efficiency at 17psi anyway, so its not a case of IF, its a case of WHEN something goes bang. you ideally need an electronic boost controller running 14.5 max to be safe, and as for NOS, forget it unless you want a pile of bits in the sump. to run what you are after, then its an engine rebuild with forged internals, upgrade turbos, injectors, ect. just an example : forged internal kit ยฃ1500, someone to rebuild ยฃ1500, turbos around ยฃ1200-1500 spec dependant, 550 inj ยฃ500. thats around ยฃ5k to start with.

it sounds like youve got big plans for the motor - and hats off to you for that! how long have you owned the car for? and does it have much service history? does it run ok - any issues, such as water need topping up regularly, slimy water in rad, oil needing top up regularly, noises from engine, smoke from exhausts (other than white smoke after a cold or rainy day)?

the reason i ask is that, not wanting to sound a doom-merchant, but you may be eager to spend thousands on a motor that could be about to fail on you. if youre not confident you know the history and current condition of the motor, it may be worth spending some time and/or money on giving it a good check-over first before you ramp up the power.

as Mario says, investing in an electronic boost controller and throwing away that manual one is also a good first step - along with installing aftermarket boost and water temp gauges as the stock ones become rubbish over time.

ok,the car is in good mechanical condition,,engine havent seen any abuse apart from few times making 14s on sanata pod... and burning the clutch out on close of the season on same raceway,,thats why fitted a cerametalic ones...,,70k,import,,,no smoke no strange noises, only when started on cold there is a very slight ugly ticking from one of the camshaft(well going from very top where the throtle cable attached)...goes away as soon aS GETS A BIT WARMER...,but that been doing since i got the car and thats about a year ago....so i am not worrying in present condition of the engine,as it all good...no service history with the car,,but as i deal with cars on every day basis,,i relay on my knowledge...servising it my self,,,,also,i am using the car very rare some times on weekends as no time during the week, basicaly thats why i want to get the most power of it as not beeing used every day...
