Due to the the heater matrix in my car needs replacing which i only brought the car on tursday last week i am going to have to sell the car as i dont have the time nor the expertise to do the job and worst part is the wife nagging me and blaming me.

i would just like to say i thank you for all the advice you people have given me over the last few days but it is a too big of job for me to do and i need a car that has heating as i have a sick baby.

Maybe you will see me again when i can pick up a mint 300zx TT.

i see your point but it will still cost me £300+ in the end to get sorted as i just cant do the job myself wish i was more into cars etc.

And because of this i have lost intrest in this car now.

i know its the wrong time of year for it really but i would put some calls in to a few garages, the matrix itself is only about 50 quid brand new, the labour cant be more than 70-80 quid. im gonna have to change mine in the new year as mine has no heat either

hope it works out for you whatever you decide to do

i quite understand that mate....i drove around one winter with no matrix...it was outragous....hands like ice blocks....a good quality heater plugged into the fag lighter will heat the car nicely and save on your earbashing (to a certain extent)...matrix replacement aint a job for the faint hearted and can often take a whole day or 2...:mac1::D

I've replaced 2 matrixs' now, mine was a matrix from a primera I picked up for £50-60~ off ebay and took the dash out to fit it, took a few days (working on and off)

I also did Emeros in a week popping round after work and doing a bit each day (Hers was a US spec matrix and cost considerably more)

There's a guide on the Oz forums which tells you how to do it. just make sure you keep tabs on all the screws you take out if you decide to do it (I put them in resealable bags then stuck them to the component they held in)

I have decided to sell the car as with the little one being sick i need a car stright away i dont have the time to take it off the road etc.

You could get it fixed in the time it took you to sell a car with a faulty heater !

Buy a run around until you get the Zed fixed, Sell the run around at hopefully no financial loss = Win Win :D

Surely selling a Zed is going to take weeks especially as its Christmas, repairing, or bypassing and using an electrical in car heater as Uno says has got to be the easiest option for you but sorry to hear your having problems and good luck with the sale.

I had no heater for over a year. in the end it turned out to be my matrix was blocked with rad weld or somthing like. So i just dissconnected the heater pipes and stuck a hose pipe on one side and blew all the crap out and now i am loverly and warm :)

A nice idea, but perhaps a little unrealistic for a 15-20 year old car.

My last car was 17 years old and gave me years trouble free motoring i guess its just luck

you could get it repaired for a couple of hundred. In out same day. Although you would be best taking it to a zed specialist rather than a regular garage.
