Hi,

Unfortunetly my neighbours car got stolen off his drive last night which worries me as my Z will hopefully be back home soon. What have people done to beef up security on the cars and drives?

Cheers

Vijay

Does anyone know of a totally seperate proximity alarm/sensor that can be switched on and off totally seperate from the main alarm. I don't really want to change my alarm as it's worked perfectly up till when my car went in to be sprayed.

Cheers

Hi Vijay,

I currently have 2 Clifford 650 G5's, never had a problem with them. Remote start, Proximity, BlackJax (i turned off blackjax though, pretty annoying).

Good alarms, wouldnt buy any other kind TBH.

I thought remote starts were a no no when it came to insurance?

Never heard that before.

If a thief has the fob, why would it make a difference if it remote starts?

I should really make sure with my insurance company i guess.

Unless there is another reason / scenario im missing.

think the issue with remote alarms was that someone might be encourage to steal your car if the engine was running, thinking they could get in and drive away

my g650 dosent have it it's an add on also ;)

You are correct CK, £75 add on, its actually the reason i bought the clifford in the first place, for the Remote Start.

You can also plug Clifford into software and turn off certain features, set auto start temp for colder countries etc. (CliffNet Wizard its called)

do you have the anti jack feature also ?

do you have the anti jack feature also ?

No, its one i thought wasnt called for really, proximity is good enough, if that doesnt scare em off then they will have the balls to take it anyway.

So anti-tilt is maybe over kill, for me anyway.

:nana2:

lol, i agree it works evry time for me watched the post-man jump a few times  and every time it beeps the dog kicks off (well trained)

anyway sorry for the thread hi jack vijay:)

hehe, i like the remote feature more, lost my car in the Trafford Center car par, xmas eve, was rammed, remote started it, located car about a mile away (notreally, but far)

Could see my car, people walking past, then stopping, with a confused look on there faces, wondering why the engine just started with noone in it. makes me chuckle. I know its old, but people still get confused and think its magic.

don't worry guys, I'm interested in what's what with your alarms in case I need a new one ;)

My personal opinion; for what it's worth........

..........don't waste your money! Just stick with a Cat 1 system and hope for the best. If someone really wants to steal a 300zx then they will do it what ever security you have. At the end of the day, the likelihood of a 15 year old+ car (that appears to be worth peanuts; judging by those for sale) being stolen is not high enough to worry about;)

If you have classic insurance, get it at an agreed value - if the car does get pinched you'll probably receive more than you would if you sold it!!

Sorry to sound negative - I know how much we love our Zs (me included) - but on a scale of economies why spend ££££££s to protect a car worth............:nelson:

Richard:(

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
