I've just been looking through the paperwork that came with my Zed (Trudy) :-) and there is a reciept for the fitting of 1mm boost jets, what do these do, where do they go, and is there any power benefit? It has a Mines ECU which I whink was fitted at the same time, other than that (as far as I know) she's stock... I've done a full re-build, 1mm oversized pistons as the bore was crackered, and re-con stock turbos. After she's run-in, what's the estimated BHP? It's a Jap import 92 auto, just curious :-) Cheers...

A receipt for fitting boost jets? Is there a receipt for changing the wiper blades too? Only jokin'. ;)

Boost jets are small mig tips that are inserted into the vacuum hoses that run to the wastegates. They fool them into opening more giving more boost.

Typically, 1mm boost jets will give you approx 14PSi of boost, but they do give spikes. Some people have them fitted and say they've had no problems, others have had piston damage and headgasket failure.

Cheers, that could well explain the blown piston, that's how the car was when I bought it! Thanks....

if youre running higher boost i'd strongly recommend an aftermarket boost gauge so the same doesnt happen again! also if youve got the budget for it you may as well sort the intake and exhaust out as even with running higher boost you've got some restrictions on both ends of the engine.

bhp-wise, as it is right now running, what, 3020cc, mine's ecu and 14psi, i'd guess at 340bhp, being hampered by stock intake and exhaust. sort those out and it'll probably be more like 370.

Cheers pal, forgot to mention she's got an Apexi induction kit, and a straight through de-catted exhaust, so maybe she'll be around the 370 mark, that's nice to know, yay.... :-)
