ive removed the re-circ PIPE from the standard valves,

so the actuater pipe is still conected on the top, and the actual valve is still connected to the large pipe.

is this the same as a dump valve now? is it venting to atmoss?

or is the noise i can hear "goose honk/pigeon" and the recirc is doing nothing at all?

cheers mate, i know how to replace it with an aftermarket one,

just wondered if you only block the recirc pipe on the standard valve, does it do the same as an aftermarket dump valve?

(obviously aftermarket ones would be louder etc)

I can't remember the ins-and-outs, but no - i think it's to do with the spring pressure not being sufficient... you end up with a boost leak.

You can't just leave one open it needs to work as a valve.

BOVS / dump valves have spring in them whihc are set at a certain resistance. Once the pressure builds up they will be forced open to release the excess pressure before closing again.

If you just leave the pipe open without a valve as such then you are pretty much going to be letting the air out constantly.

This will cause boost leaves, leading to crappy running and general idle problems.

nothing is open,

iv blocked off the re-circ pipe on the recirc valve, and at the air filter intake pipe.

so nothings left open.

then the rest of it (top thin actuater pipe, and the bottom bigger pipe) is connected...

dont have no idling or running issues, i can hear the goose honk, but i wondered if a part of the goose honk noise was also coming from the recirc valve. (which has the actual recirc pipe removed/blocked)

well try it and see - i'm sure you will lose boost though... the valve isn't designed to vent to atmosphere; i.e. it will flutter.

actually done it!

it just sounds like a weak little dump valve.

dont think ive lost any boost?

if i had to describe the noise, id say its like a SSQV, but on about 3 PSI.

doing to remove them completly as soon as i get something to block the pipes.

they are like free dump valves tho lol

you want 2 sounds isit?

1) with the recirc valve on, withe the recirc pipe removed/blocked (free dump valve mode lol)

2) recircs completly removed and blocked off, (with no other dump valve)

aka pigeon/goose honk mode
