In a turbocharged car whats causes the chattering noise when the accelerator pedal is released?

Also, is the noise a good sign or is it causing damage to something?

Cheers guys, Dan

This is the valve that releases compressed air from your intake when you take your foot of the throttle. Nissan fitted this as standard to help meet emissions standards and also to prevent the lovely rally-esque flutter noise. This noise is created as the compressed air does an about-turn back through your spinning turbo blades

like i said, its a very common mod done on the silvias etc.

heres a guide here

not defending it, maybe its bad, but how bad is a different thing :)

that is the most stupid thing ive ever heard!

Why do people like damaging their turbos?

For a shite sound that sounds like a fart?

I suppose it is more serious on a car that cost £600+ just to get the engine in/out to replace fooked turbos, its less serious on a car with better access :P
